Chris and I hit up freshwater fishing spots along rt. 41 driving back to Naples from Islamorada. We start in the outskirts of Miami and end in my favorite Naples fishing spot. A long our journey, we our confronted by a wildfire but we escape it’s fiery grip and end our day strong with good fishing! Sometimes the best fishing is right in your backyard!

Cichlids are spiny-rayed fish that constitute the family Cichlidae, there are many extant species within many genera, they are one of the only two extant families within the order Cichliformes, the other being the convict blennies (family Pholidichthyidae), a recent sequencing study ribosomal mitochondrial DNA of a large taxon sample divides the cichlid family into two major clades, the first of these being the subfamily Cichlinae, known as the "New World Cichlids" consisting of six groups, Heroini, Cichlasomatini, Chaetobranchini, Geophagini, Astronotini, and Cichlini, the second clade is the subfamily Etroplinae, known as the "Old World Cichlids", including all other cichlid species, Etroplinae is composed of fifteen groups, Etroplini, Heterochromidini, Ptychochromidini, Bathybatini, Coptodontini, Cyprichromidini, Ectodontini, Eretmodontini, Haplochromidini, Lamprologini, Limnochromidini, Oreochromidini, Tropheini, Tilapiini, and Hemichromidini.
