Top 5 Baits for January Bass Fishing!

Winter bass fishing is here! If you want to catch bass in January, you need to fish differently than you do the rest of the year. These are the top 5 baits we rely on to consistently catch bass during the coldest part of the year! Come along as we explore our confidence baits to help you catch more fish in January!

In most of the country January is the coldest month of the year. Fish are lethargic and often laying right on bottom. Finesse is the natural approach for these fish but the right reaction baits can trigger a feed response as well, even in a lethargic bass. We rely on a mix of reaction and finesse baits to consistently catch fish all through Winter.

Below you’ll find links to the exact baits and gear we use in January. We’ve linked the exact colors, sizes, and rigging components, to help you find the exact items you’re looking for. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

  1. Awesome video! I am in Houston texas and the low to high temps are 55-70 degrees. The bass were already busting out the water chasing bait. I was wondering if there could be a part 2 of this video for Texas/Florida?

  2. Guys been a long time following. I know you're both from Nor-Cal. Would love to hear your experience from the California delta and any experience from the motherlode lakes.
    Happy new years!!

  3. Those Keitechs work for me . Still catching in Rhode Island . The Blackstone river doesn’t freeze on the main body . Barely moving on the bottom like you said Tim .

  4. Why a skeeter. You had the best bass boat champion miss seeing guys on clear lake from one champ to another. Don’t blame you leaving cal you left at the right time.

  5. Hello Tim. Thanks for the video. You mentioned "bringing them in slow" when you have hooked a deep fish. About how much time will you take to reel in a fish caught in say 30', 40', 50'+ ?

  6. I live in az and I fish a little river next to my house. The water temperature was 59 degrees yesterday. Are the bass going to be more aggressive in these temperatures. I doesn't really get very cold here.
