Sam Rayburn Bass Fishing – January 2022 – Trying to Find Bass and Find Grass

Trying to find bass on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, in east Texas, is not always easy. It probably has more bass per acre than any largemouth fishery I’ve been to; however, during the winter months, the lake can have a variety of grass situations. At times, there are areas choked out with grass and other years, there is absolutely no grass where there typically is. If you can’t find bass in the grass, then Sam Rayburn offers plenty of other cover in the form of brush piles, timber, and bushes (if the water level is high enough).
