Here’s what I’ve learned so far about how to fish the Yamatanuki. A new bait from Yamamoto Baits.

I think the yamatanuki excels in the sense that it’s a heavy flipping senko that can fish deeper water effectively. Plus it even mimics a crawfish
An o ring on the front will extend the life and keep the bait from sliding down the hook
Brother the way you edit / present everything in your videos has improved so much over the years. It's very inspiring, and I just had to say that. Really, really well done.
8 to 10 seconds, per foot sink rate is damn near floating.
Yesterday I went on for over 9 hrs. Nothing. Finally end of the day I tied on these Yamamoto Yamatanuki on rigged just like Gene. Within minutes i hooked 2 bass in the same spot. Of course both jumped and spit the lure back at me. That pissed me off! They hit while I was popping off the bottom. Used Berkley fusion hooks, bad choice I guess
Someone gave me one to try, (3.5in version) I've never seen or heard of it before. I liked it's heaviness, rigged it weightless on a 5/0 EWG with a screw lock at the hook eye. Within a few cast I loved it, cast like a missile, work it with short hops, and landed a 3lber .
Can you use a fluke offset hook? Like the bass!! Thanks for the help!
This bait slays….but durability is a nightmare.
In my opinion when texas rigging a bait, when the soft plastic doesn't cover my knot than the hook to big
When the baits slipping like that leave a lil extra on your tag end and it works excellent for a bait keeper. No super glue needed
I bet a Trokar tube hooks would work
I bet a screw lock ewg would work great for that bait , like a swimbait ewg
Owner Twistlock 4/0 is perfect. Same on Fat Ika
What is that camera you use above your electronics
It’s safe to say we’ve gone way beyond the intended purpose of a fishing kayak.
Are you trying to make up for something with all those screens?
Would you scent this bait?
Promo SM
He caught that on a bluegill and we know it
How do we get these suckers? They're always out of stock!
Why did you switch from motorguid?
Can you put a weighted hook or nail weight?
Best fishing channel. Period
What kind of anchor is that your using by your trolling motor?
Wow, that's a nice fish.

Another awesome video as always Brother
Pass.
You do a great job with your vids. Continued Success!!
Gene is Denny with OTWI still in business?
Have sent him a number of messages and he’s not getting back with me. His phone number listed does not work. Was wondering if you have a good number for him.
Need a trailer now for two PA 14.
Man I'm sorry there isn't much I find disturbing and I was in the medical field but that bait is freaking me out. Idk y, I don't care if it would get me the world record still not using it
4/0 VMC welded ring offset EWGs
Not sure if you know this, but a tanuki is a Japanese raccoon. The tail on the bait looks like a tanuki tail, hence the name. Keep up the good work, love your content.
Can’t imagine your electronics don’t get in the way. Would drive me insane having them wobbling all over the place
Akin to a cover scat. No?
Pay gene comment
I’m trying to purchase the rod and bait but when I click it it doesn’t show in the cart
I have been fishing Rocky mountain a lot last few weeks and been catching 3 to 4 pound bass on the regular. I love it out there. Can’t get them to hit top water and tied on a ned rig and have been tearing them up.
Has the world ended, is Gene fishing a “senko” derivative.

They get bit a lot but I have missed a lot of fish on them because of how thick the bait is. I am using a wide gap plus 5/0.
Awesome Gene. Waiting for mine to come in the mail. Cant wait.
Great video thank you
Love the video! Congrats on the big one!! I'll have to try those out soon.
Now to find the damn things! lol. Great video as always.
Nice Rocky Mountain hammer
Good video Gene, now I need to add a new bait to my line up
I saw four kayaks hugging that tree today foaming at the mouth trying to catch that bass or one like it
Good to see you posting videos more frequently, I'll take your word on the yamadookie.
To get the bait to stay in place on the hook make sure the hook eye is in the plastic. Then stick a toothpick through the plastic and hook eye then break off the ends of the toothpick.
