Had the chance to get out to Dixon Lake in Escondido California and get some fishing in. This was a great learning experience as I rarely get to fish clear water lakes with a lot of vegetation.

I fish Dixon quite a bit. It’s a finesse lake with soft plastic worms. Slow presentation. Sight fishing there doesn’t work. It’s painful sometimes. It is a great place and the fish can be caught. It’s tough most times though.

Dixon is a tough lake. Supers clear water, most fish are deep or deeper. With clear California lakes like Dixon go small, natural and slow, definitely a finesse bait lake. Drop shot 4" cinnamon with black, blue or neon green vein. Split shot 4" plastic, lizards, crawdad plastics.

The bass there like darker shade worm lures with an extremely slow presentation.
