Wisconsin River/Lake Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Drove back to Wisconsin to fish a small friendly tournament. We started off fishing the day before on a flowage on the Wisconsin River. I normally don’t fish this stretch a much as the Merrill to Wausau but overall it was a long day trying to find these smallies. Walleyes were popular but caught and released. We even hooked into a big Channel Catfish 😆

Day 2 Tournament Day:

Started off hitting a reef and was scanning a whole bunch of baitfish around but no fish chasing them. Moved to next spot with shallow water rocks and boulders, you’d think smallies would be right up in these areas but for some reason they weren’t. I hooked into my 1st Smallmouth off a pink senko on our 2nd pile of rocks and the Sensei was hooking into walleyes, perch and got a couple of smaller smallies but nothing too big for the livewell. Flew back SW of the lake to the 3rd rock pile and tossing my HH Customs Galaxy/AB Craw, hooked into a nice 2.5lb SMB, but the rest of the time, we weren’t able to get on em. Lake is pretty shadow at the shoreline so we didn’t hit any docks and largemouth Bass was the less abundant species on this lake also. Really weird and massive lake.

Congrats to the other teams for taking home the bag and big bass!

We’ll have do this again soon!
