Ned Rigs are terrific presentations, but they have some limitations. The Jig Rig eliminates the problems a Ned Rig has, but still keeps all the fish-catching benefits. This setup has replaced the Ned Rig for me, yet still uses the same soft plastics Ned Rig anglers love.

I've been catching most of my big bass (over five) on a speckled brown TURD rig you can make your own in the morning, they come soft and hard.
I love these video's! It would be awesome if you could make a video for this rig specifically where you show how you can best set the hook with this rig and bait setup. And also talk about the best rod and reel setup for this lighter version of the jika rig and what line to use ect
I've got this tied up and ready to go if the weather ever breaks here… wind and rain last 2 weeks haven't been able to get in the boat yet… I need to move lol😅
aaargh!! Steve, my man, you have let out the big secret!!! lol……this rig KILLS where I hail from, because the NYC reservoir system is full of waters that are inundated with seen and unseen branches on the bottom and using a standard Ned setup results in too many hangups…..this rig rarely gets caught up and the hook up ratio is fantastic….
You know they make EWG offset ned rigs so that you can Texas rig the ned worm and not get hung up as much.
what size hook do you use on a reg TRD and a Big TRD?
it look like mini toyto rig
What set up do you like for this technique? Spinning rod and light line like a traditional Ned Rig or do you beef up some for the Texas rig? Thanks
Nice one Steve 👍🏻
Tokyo rig is the shit. We been using these for years. Its another technique from japan. Chebruski is another good rig setup too. Cheers.
Cool! Looking forward to trying this one out!
What size of hook works well for a TRD for example?
just use Cheburashka, IMO its simpler and better
Would love to find a cheaper weight option
Pretty cool rig. I recently used the new VMC swinging ned rig heads rigged weedless and it served a very similar purpose and worked well. I like that you can easily change weights with this rig I might have to try it sometime
That is a really great setup. I've cobbled together something similar using a round drop shot weight, but it isn't nearly as compact or as efficient. As someone who fishes lakes where ned rigs are little more than an invitation to frustration, I am seriously going to give this a go.
I came across this technique in one of your previous videos and decided to give it a try. It worked like a charm! I've been using it for a month now and have seen excellent results.
I purchased a lot of these products from Varivas after the last video you made with them. Still haven't used any of it. Waiting for a little warmer water. How does this presentation do in extremely sticky, loose chunk rock?
This is wild seeing this, I just made this rig today minus the swivel. I took a ewg, split ring, and a teardrop weight. Looks like I might need to try to add a swivel, I was excited to try it out but now even a little more 😂
Great video…but why not just use a Ned EWG hook???
I started making those last year
Steve you speak well, have great perspective and I believe what you say. Great channel. I appreciate you!
What's it called
Wonderfull video steve ! Thanks for sharing!
Take the swivel off and add a small chatter bait blade and it’s a killer micro bladed jig
Never saw this before this video, thank you I just ordered a bunch
Zman makes weedless jig hook called bullet z works so well best most weedless ned rig hook they make if u haven't tried that one give it a shot
I'd sure like to see a creature bait or craw on that!
Great video I am going to have to try that some of the small lakes i fish here in northern Arkansas have a grass and lot of wood in them i think this will work.
I need to try this setup Steve! I fish a lot of laydowns and sometimes I want a smaller presentation. This looks like it would be deadly! I might try this on a small TRD craw to see how it does. Thanks Steve. I hope you and your family are well.
Great video Steve! Here in southern Brazil, we have been using a similar setup for about 10 years for catching Traíras (Hoplias Malabaricus). The difference is that we don't use a swivel or split ring, just a snap with a weight and hook. It's very practical for changing the weight of the sinkers and the size of the hooks. Keep up the great work! Greetings from Brazil.
