  1. I grew up in Clewiston, remember when the Martins came in and bought out some smaller marinas to build the complex. My Dad ran the drainage districts on that side of the lake, he even made arrangements to shut down and relocate a pump station to help accommodate the project. The stations foundation is still there, beside the laundry building.

Most people in town thought this would be a good thing for the area. It has been.

I moved away seeking a different opportunity for my family and I a few years after it opened, but stayed in the motel when in town visiting and more recently when I get a condo for a week and tow my boat down to go fishing. Once I get the boat in the water I seldom leave the complex except to go out on the water. Everything I need is right there within a short walk.

Headed down again the first week in March and really looking forward to it!

It's not often when a business takes on a life of it's own, when it contributes more to an area than it takes and when word of mouth 'advertising' does more good to promote it than any media campaign could. But the Martins have done it.

Thanks to the whole family, their hard work, dedication and attention to detail does not go unnoticed and is appreciated by more folks than they probably know.

  2. I'll never forget when I was getting the camera gear ready to film and Roland you threw a pair of waiters at me. I said, what are these for? You said, you're filming from the water today! Hahaha I did it, but I was on edge the whole dang time! That was the day Walt took the picture of us to be used as autograph pictures. I still have my copy frame on my wall.

  3. Roland, I’ve been a fan of yours since the early 80’s. Loved your fishing show on TV and your books on bass fishing. It’s so nice to see you in good health. Take care.

  4. I watched Roland on TV as a kid 40 plus years ago catching big Lake Okeechobee bass. I wanted to go there my entire life and was finally able to make it happen in 2017. My first Lake Okeechobee bass was on a lure and was 8 pounds. We fished with Tom Mann Jr. I have gone every year since and bought one of the condos a few years ago and rent it out through the resort. My wife spends the day at the pool and i spend the day fishing. We eat at the galley and the tiki bar all of the time and everything on the menu is great. I can’t wait for the day when i can stay for a few months at a time. It is my paradise! I am hoping one day to meet and shake Rolands hand. If you haven’t been there yet you have to make a trip.

  5. Mr Roland, you need to do an hour or even a 2 hour video and just chat!! You have soooo many stories im sure!! You literally lived thru and helped create the bass fishing we know and love today!! We NEED to hear your stories before youre an old man😂😂, you look great my good man and we love ya!!

  6. Roland, I’m reading your ‘101 Tips’ hardback book published in 1980 when you lived in Oklahoma. While the rod, tackle, and boat technology has improved, your advice then about fishing is still really helpful, and much of what you say and do in your modern videos echos what you taught then. You obviously still have the passion and enjoy every strike like it was your first fish. May the Lord continue to bless you!
