Bass eye placement allows a bass to see both sides and to the front, it can’t see below it or behind it.
I'm not often bass fishing, but this holds true for Trout and Pike as well.

I had this issue the other day. Crank bait was working one day and another was the jerkbait. Same week same pond. When the crankbait was on fire it was really on fire
