Question: What size snap would you recommend for 1.5 to 2.5 size crankbait? Right now I have one dedicated crankbait rod, 7' m/h fast glass composite rod w/slower 5.6:1 reel.
I was led to believe it might be best to tie a snap on, so I can change baits easier for this application.
Typically all my other setups, I tie direct to the lure.
So do you take the round split ring completely off of the bait and just use a snap?
I slow roll all my squarebills until i get strikes and not hooking fish i then speed up and that makes them mad enough to get a good hookset

Why a fast action rod over a moderate or moderate fast. Fast action doesn't have near the parabolic bend. Yeah you might bounce off cover better with a fast action but you chance pulling that bait away from the fish
I've used square bill for a long time with and without rattles , which would be the best in highly stained water. The lakes here in Texas are flood level or every high. The air temp is around the 60's for the list few days. In November which color would square bill would be the best. Thank You!!

Thanks for all the great information… what’s ur take on the cast abilities of flourocarbon. I’ve heard mixed things on this. I can cast a baitcaster really well. No problem with braid copolymer or mono but have heard bad things about the casting of flouro. Are there better casting males than others?
Square bills don't dive very deep and with the types of lakes around me, deep reservoirs, how should I approve using a square bill? Often coves can go from 2ft to 40ft with deep within just a few feet from the bank. What depth are you mainly fishing in this video?

Good info on fishing squarebills. Wish I knew this back when I fished standing timber. There is none where I fish these days.
Thanks for the video. I love squarebills and I'm always looking for new ways to use them. I'll be trying them over submerged vegetation with the rod tip up next time out.
