I disagree if a record fish is caught with a rod and reel it should be legitimate.
I'll tell you right now if somebody that's an expert and aquarium stuff half of the fish again that cooler and not goldfish their koi fish

A) is this a lake you can pay to go fish or is this a friends pond?
B) as live scoping grows, state records will fall.

Eventually they'd bite an artificial bait. It just takes a little more effort. Live bait catches fish but there's no sport in it.
Sucks people don't release bass that big 😕
As a fisherman who uses artificial bait and started off using live bait, I would say that live bait isn't cheating in the slightest. There's still a challenge in fighting the fish, and catching them and sometimes in really pressured lakes, it's hard to get them on live.

This is one of the reasons goldfish are infesting waterways.
Thats the same size goldfish we use sometimes when fishing for Muskie up in WV….that's crazy.
Nice bass only a true fisherman like you could catch a fish like that
you know using goldfish as bait is a really good idea since they are invasive.
just make sure to use all the bait
