Fishing Northern Kentucky- Looking For The Perfect Bass Lake for Kayak Fishing

On this day I was fishing a small lake in Northern Kentucky because next up for me on the kayak bass fishing tournament trail is the Cincinnati Kayak Fishing Northern Kentucky Waters tournament where any public water in NKY north of Lexington is eligible (lakes and rivers). I started my research by making a list of all the lakes I could see on Google Earth in that section of KY, cross referenced that list with the tournament schedules of every bass group I could find that fished in that area, then I started googling fishing reports for each lake. After narrowing my list down to a few solid options I started actually going to the lakes scouting two this first weekend and I’ll visit another two this upcoming weekend, then hopefully will narrow it down to one really good bass lake for the tournament!

No, I won’t tell you the name of these lakes, but I did explain how to find them with your own research. These are smaller lakes that would be ruined by heavy fishing pressure, so I’m going to leave them to the people who already know and the people who are willing to put in the time and work to find these small out-of-the-way lakes to enjoy.

  1. I bought a Hobie Lynx from Strictly Sail & Kayak this spring and I told them it was because of you! Thanks for all your effort and excellent content.

I have the Yak Attack "Bunkster" cart and it is a game changer for my Old Town Sportsman 106 PDL. It pops apart in seconds and stores in the hull. I bought the new sand tires for it and I'm covered for hard or soft surfaces. You need to check it out.
This looked like a really fun lake explore! Great video. I love your nice and relaxing videos because they are very well done. It looks like you found a great Bass lake too!

  3. Just tie a strap to the cart, send the kayak deep enough to drop the cart out then just pull the kart back in to you and put in on the yak. Works wonders.

  4. I have a heavy Bonafide kayak and I struggled early on with those scupper hole wheels and kayak carts. What a PITA! Eventually settled on the Boonedox system and I never looked back. Easy to put the wheels on, easy off and built rock solid.

  5. Check out Greg Blanchards latest video, where he kitted out his new Native Titan X. In his description is a link for attachable trolly wheels/ arms. These should be able to bolt right on to the deck of your Lynx – hope this helps

  6. I use a wildernes systems hd cart , i highlly reccomend it , yes you will lift the kayak at the ramp by not as high as high as the scupper carts .. i would loom into it

  7. Melissa, ask your dealer about the boondocks Landing gear. When you get back home, do a YouTube search for boondocks Landing gear. You can take the wheels off and move them to higher position on the Kayak until you get back toward the ramp. The wheels are not floaters, and it would not be a problem. The wheels are the same wheels or like the same wheels on the tug under Kayak card.
Check that out when you get home too.
