Big bass with extreme bulging eyeballs! Farm pond bass fishing adventure & info

This does not look right! Join me for a Southern Illinois evening farm pond bass fishing adventure as our cat Prim joins us for a trek around both of our Southern Illinois farm ponds as I try to catch at least a 3 pound bass! Recently we hired a pond management specialist, Jeff Hoffman, and we implemented a ‘whole pond’ management system, including 4 pond aerator diffusers, a protein fish feeder, killing off the invasive weeds, and adding pond dye to help reduce the weed growth in the pond. Also we have been culling the small bass that were overpopulating our Southern Illinois farm ponds. So when I hooked into a nice bass but saw the extreme bulging eyeballs, I was a little concerned that it was the result of not enough food for the big bass. But I contacted Jeff and we went over the evidence and he determined that the big bass with bulging eyes was likely a one off, meaning it did not appear to be from a lack of food for the bass. Other things that can cause bulging eyes in bass include a nitrogen imbalance or a bacterial infection. The other bass that we have been catching have been fine. What a cool early October bass fishing adventure though for a weeknight! 1. In Florida i caught a pretty good sized bass and he was very thin, so I took him to another lake near by. I seen the same once at Banner Marsh in south Peoria and this bass i caught was almost down to his bones. I thought for a while that Sharon would come out and show you how to catch one. Lol
