Toughest Day Bass Fishing Ever Out At Arabie Dam

This fishing was the most disheartening fishing trips I have ever had. Arabie dam is a big bass factory and they were not wanting to play.

This was our second last competition of the year and it was held at Arabie dam out limpopo side. This dam is known for it’s giant bass and monster bags on competition days. There have been bass caught up to 5 Kgs and bags weighed in over 10 kg. Arabie is for sure a big bass factor!!!!

This comp was during the august period and this means bass are getting ready to move up shallow to do there business. When we got to arabie dam the weather wasn’t the greatest, a cold front came through and shocked those big bass to hand in the deeper water. Turns out alot of bass where caught in shallower water. The big bass where all caught out deeper water hanging on ridges waiting to move up on beds.

We fished the deeper water and committed to catching those staging bass and it didn’t pay off. The lack of experience we have in fishing off shore waters made us not catch bass and this resulted us to not do well in this competition.

It is what it is and this was another learning curve for us to just stick to what we know and this is fishing shallow.

Other then that the day was great, we had fun on the water and that is all that matters.
