@bassinbill96 captured this footage two years ago, and with the recent fatal accidents released it and his could have been fatal. This is a scary situation for all boaters, but why do these things happen? Is it the screen sizes? Or awareness of the boater.

There are too many idiots that have bass boats that have no clue on how to handle them. I have been on foggy lakes with minimal vision and these idiots are flying across the lake and only luck is keeping these morons from killing somebody…..it can be ridiculous.
I think the tournaments need more staggard starts, put 2 mins in between each boat at take off. Right now its one right after another and it leave little room for error.
I agree in part of the electronics, But as a boat owner/ operator you need to be aware of other boats, etc !! Bottom line SLOW DOWN!!
You should not come off plane without checking behind you.
Boats, like cars, should place electronic screens where they don't obstruct the driver's view—on the dash or side, but not directly in front of the steering wheel.
Regarding the film, if the boat simply stopped, that’s one thing. But if they broke down, it would have been poor sportsmanship for the other boaters to ignore them rather than offering help. In a competitive setting, courtesy and responsibility on the water should always be upheld.
JMHO.
Safety is more important than anything. Here in Missouri they implement an age restriction for operating vessels on the water a long with a safe course. Like to see the nation wide.
Many tourney anglers all racing to spots is not safe. Many drive their boats well and many do not. Many are looking at other places and screens while they are driving. Screens are mounted too high in many boats but think it’s the distraction of the screen or other things that is likely the biggest factor. I think speed and motor restrictions to give
more reaction time is the way to go.
Boating has been a demolition derby. The higher speeds and lack of respect to others has increased. Resulting in unbelievable trajedy. It's hard to watch. Imagine what it's like to live it.
After being in a boat accident two years ago, I just let everyone go when I’m fishing a tournament, there no sneak holes anymore anyway
Saturday tournaments across the country often see these kinds of incidents. I and many friends have had our share of close calls. It's become an accepted part of the experience, but we shouldn't wait for a tragedy – a serious injury or fatality – to change things. Everyone, please reduce your speed and be more aware of those around you. Be safe out on the water.
Hey, Steve, prayers for u and your family. The answer is yes, Steve
Too many boat drivers think they are NASCAR drivers, with no experience. I agree some electronics play a factor in being able to see. thanks Steve for keeping it real.
I just wonder what sets the camera boat apart?
This happens all the time called experience U never go directly behind a boat he could hit a log and that could be bad. Simple when u behind a boat always make sure U have clearance is he should stop.
Anymore I believe the Boating industry needs to work on designing there boats to safely accommodate all the new technologies. No it's not all on the boat industry but they can make a huge impact on saftey!
Shouldn't be allowed to have monitors on while traveling high rate of speed
Yes, yes, and yes.
I had the same thing happen to me, on a club tournament.
Electronics are too high on most consoles. I'm 5'10" and borrowed my friend's boat for a tournament. I couldn't see over the two screens unless I sat all the way to the edge of the seat.
Steve, I believe both of these guys are at equal fault. It appears as if they are a group of boats running down the lake at the beginning of a tournament. The boat that decided to stop in the middle of the travel lanes as indicated by three boats, running together, should have looked back and made sure there was nobody running up on him. It’s one thing if you’re spot locked on an area and somebody runs by you like that, but it’s a whole other thing when you stop and don’t look behind you and are aware of your surroundings. The guy in the Boat that buzzed a foot off his Bond rail, should have paid more attention and should have swerved, but he may not have had time to. So anyway, that is my opinion 45 years boating on the water. Lastly, the screens don’t have a lot to do with what’s going on you can see around them, etc. to where they don’t interfere that much.
Looking at the thumbnail title, you need to review the use of too and to.
