I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. Spotted Bass are Invasive in Va. Were I live… They'll out compete largemouth and hybridize with smallmouth Bass and you end up with a bunch of fish 2lbs and less🙄🙄🙄.

  2. Matt, I knew watching your videos and the content and the time you took to educate others has been really productive for me fishing, but it does not stop there, like no else I have watched you put your techniques to work against some the world's greatest anglers and you have proven again you are not just for show, it is not just "Dock Talk" you have proven again your are one of our world leading anglers out there and you put your money where you mouth is (so to speak) and back up what you have been saying for the last few years. GREAT Tournament and keep it going, it makes me know I have not waisted my time watching your you tube channel. THANKS !!!!!!!

  3. Hope you enjoyed Clark Hill . I'm sure you would have liked to finish further up the ladder, but you did real good. MLF website says no one could figure to fish shallow or deep. It's like that every time you go, regardless of the time of year. Those Spots showed up about 8 or 9 years ago. They aren't that many big ones, but 3 to 5 pounders are starting to get caught. There are many schools of Largies, 4 to 6 pounds that never come shallow. They think and act like Stripers. So much for them to eat. The guy that won it said he caught them in brush piles off the bank, they were just waiting to move up.. Those fish were never going to move up, they will spawn in 5 to 8 feet of water. No one in the top 10 mentioned a lipless, flatbait or shadrap, that really surprised me, they love that tight wobble. Hope ya'll come back, good luck the rest of the year. I watch everyone of your videos.

  4. A pair of cut checks to start the season, great job! Hope you can add a W to the mix this season as well. IMO, it would be nice to see a 2 or 3-minute recap on what you feel you did wrong or right after each day or at least after each derby.

  5. Good to see you leave an area, after an hour, you were catching keeper fish but wasn't going to get the you the weight needed. This is after the fact but congrats on a good finish.

  6. I really enjoy these recap videos! I have a question though, on really windy days or places with strong current do you ever feel like you have to fight your boat constantly in order to make the casts you need to make? My Bass Buggy, being a pontoon and all, gets pushed around like a leaf in the wind so I was just curious. Your heavy duty setup and trolling motor probably makes that a lot less likely, however.
