I am a huge Fritside 5 and 7 user. But yes it seems like it just dies off in the summer. But Spring, Fall and winter they work good.
You nailed it man, the professional tournament side of things. 🙌
Yeah, the other day just to spite you, I put on a red w/orange belly crawfish crankbait and caught 3 fish on it, and one went 4.40 lbs.
Crayfish proliferate over the summer, so there should be a lot of them out there in the early fall.
Several members of my family jointly own some cabins on a small private lake in Northern Michigan.
Years ago, my little cousin started outfishing everyone up there. He was catching more fish and bigger fish than anyone else, he was just 9 or 10 years old at the time. I asked him what he was using and he said he didn't know the name of the lure, he just took it from his dad's box and put a worm on it… It was a big Erie Dearie walleye lure, and he threaded a 7-inch purple ribbon tail worm on the hook. I went to the tackle store and matched his setup and proceeded to SLAY bass right beside my cousin. But, after that summer, I could never get another bite on that thing.
Flat sided balsa is one of my go to lures for fall… and silent lipless. I don’t throw red as much but I do keep them close.
Hey Randy. My part of the country the bass always get back on red in the fall time. I won two tournaments because of it and have done really well in others. After they are in the live well it is filled with brown crayfish with red accents. It's a no-brainer. One of my favorite crankbaits is a DT4 in the red crayfish color If they are shallow. I've used the mega bass deep x200 Red Craw and the Deep x 300 in viper If they are a bit deeper. This is my go-to every fall It works like a charm and I'm starting right now to throw all these baits.
Randy,
Sir, just a suggestion (idea 🤔) …could you possibly actually go out on the water and show us you catching bass with this BAIT you spent 5 minutes talking about how someone else caught fish 🎣? Thanks, enjoy your videos. By the WAY, do you have posted videos of you on the BOAT 🚤 FISHING 🎣 and teaching at the same time Sir ? 🤠🇺🇸
My pb was on chick magnet jr. Flat side bream circuit board crank 2-4ft
Thanks for the tip!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
If ur cashing checks in CA right now ur prolly throwing red…. the only absolute in fishing is that there are NO absolutes.
If you want to imitate a crawfish why use a fish shaped lure? Wouldn't a more craw looking lure do a better job?
Maybe a craw shaped crank bait would work? This is one of those funny things about bass that I don't get. I'm not saying anyone is wrong, and in the end it doesn't matter what the fish think it is if they bite it.
One thing to remember is that red looks different underwater faster than any color. So depending on the depth a red bait could look black to the fish. Maybe the bass you catch on those baits aren't deep enough to matter.
One thing I absolutely agree with is experimenting. Lately I'm trying all kinds of weedless rigs and different ways to rig soft plastics. I think I don't have the right rod for feeling bites but being able to set the hook with a Texas rig type thing. One thing is for sure, my Ugly Stiks aren't the right rods for the job. They're good for live bait and heavy lures but not 1/8 oz jigs.
One of the best things about livescope is it shows what lure bass want.
Wonder if the same color will work with other lures…like a fire craw Jackhammer.
IMO color doesn't matter that much compared to presentation. If you present a bait just right, you will get bit. Cased closed.
The one thing I’ve learned in fifty plus years of angling is, anything’s possible😊
I see that Lazer Lure crank, great little handmade crankbait!
Is he tying it a special way or WHAT 😮
I was river fishing Saturday morning in Coal River WV and saw more crayfish (baby ones) than I've seen since I've moved to West Virginia a few years ago. When I lived in PA, crayfish were everywhere. I assumed the crayfish only spawned in the spring here.
Unless your using Live Scope , Ban Live scope
This is what makes fishing the best sport , it always a puzzle
