My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. I'll use the worm and chunk paint (looks like nail polish) and make a orange dot on a ned worm somewhat near the head. I dont know if it makes it better, but it works.

  2. I believe scent makes a big difference in getting bites. I think when we see a fish come close to biting but turn away it's a negative scent they smell. Dr Juice makes a bad smell remover and some attractants with sex, schooling, and fear pharamones plus baitfish scent together. I don't know about freshwater but the Salt Strong guys proved that Dr Juice works better than ProCure and others because it's the only one with those specific smells.
Since I started using scents on my baits I definitely get more bites. So I think a little scent should be great for helping get reaction bites.
Check out the Salt Strong Slam Shady color. They say it's the most visible in the most water conditions. Their baits and Z Man soft plastics come in that specific color of white. It definitely gets bites, and works for bass.

  3. pink is my favorite color same as red only different. I have a buzz bait the had a three bladed blade that the fish will not leave alone but last fall one of the blades got broke on a fish still catches fish .cant find another one like it only had one ahhh. thanks for sharing. I don't seem to catch Smallies on chartreuse except for plastics with a small chart. jig head.

  4. That's great to know for Largemouth that pink is a good color. Most of my ponds hold largemouth bass here in Central Illinois. I do believe that profile, how you work your lure or jig, and color play key factors in catching fish.

  5. Hey Matt went fishing this morn .. fishing vixen had a blow up he didnt get it i said what Matt say for follow .Anyway didnt get her said I'll come back in a few .Got back got her butt in line spinner black chrome and chartreuse .still derelict on putting batteries in scale . Had shoulders if it would have been eating good i think it would have been nine it wea healthy just on a diet Any how going back to yesterday vidéo . APPRECIATE TIME

  6. Do reaction colors matter on topwaters? I've heard numerous pros say that fish don't care about color on topwaters and that they mostly just see a black silhouette during the day, not the color. But for fishing smallmouth with a popper, they are sitting right below it staring and swirling around the bait a lot of the time so they must see the color right?

  7. Now, I am going to aggravate a little bit. First, I agree with your video, and I have used all those colors as well. But is it the color that makes the difference, or is it the fact that you put your bait in front of the fish with the correct angle and motion?

  8. Chartreuse and pink are my most used accent colors. I have been doing really well with pink shaky-head jigheads this year. So much so that I bought a jar of powder paint and have repainted many of my jigheads. It's hard to beat chartreuse in dirty water. That's all I use in Lake Erie for walleye. I always have chartreuse and pink dyes and paint around.
