  1. Perfect pitch sound like a all purpose rod what I’m looking for… would you say that is a good rod for a bank angler over the Megabass tour versatile?

  2. Randy, your videos are awesome and have been learning a lot. It has been showing and paying off on the water. I picked up the Orochi XX jerkbait special and to me had been a great topwater rod. I ordered a flatside special and wanted to know whats your take on this rod. Good squarebill or lipless? Thanks!!

  3. I do kayak fishing only and I bring one 7’ ML spinning for drop shot and Ned rig, 1 6’ 6” medium spinning for skipping, jerk bait and small cranks, 1 7’ MH caster for bigger crank baits, swim jigs and top water, and 1 7’heavy caster for frogs and heavy jigs. Can do pretty much anything.

  4. Thanks for this information! I’m wondering what is the difference when someone says Med/Hvy action and doesn’t also say fast or extra fast or ???

  5. I’m a firm believer in different rods and setups. But I’m also a firm believer that ANY top level pro on a lake they’ve never fished before would still smoke me if they were using a Zebco 33 mounted on a mop handle or cane pole. It goes back to dedication and the love of fishing. Great video! Thank you.

  6. OK Randy , Now the Question is the Reels to matchup with these Rods ??? and the Type and Pound Test of Line Best Suited for All the Techniques, All-Purpose Line for these Rods !!! Thank You , So Much !! I Loved this Video !! A Big Help for me !!! God Bless !!

  7. What line do you pair with each rod? I like the idea of 3 rods, but as you said, if you need more action, less action, treble hooks vs single hook… then you need to swap in mono, or fluoro, or braid… so do I need 3 rods but 3 reels with each rod (for different lines and gear ratio)?

  8. There was old man Rastus I knew growing up that worked in the Cotton mill. He fished with an old cane pole and string. He would fill a bucket with brim and bass every time. How things change.

  9. I agree for the most part. I am looking for a 6’6 medium/fast action for my jerkbaits and top water trebles I want the short rod cause I bank/kayak fish a lot. I would be careful on telling people that they can use a flipping stick for crank baits just because I don’t think most people have the understanding that going to mono would give that rod a different action not only that but no one wants to change line all the time. And I’m guessing you would want to use floro for pitching and would have to switch to mono when cranking. So in theory yes you can use the same rod but not practical. Good video just my two cents more rods are a good thing lol.

  10. Great video as always. Glad to know I don’t need a finesse rod, flipping rod, cranking rod, drop shot rod, frog rod, jig rod, worm rod, rod for overcast days, rod for sunny days, rod for……

  11. Most bass fisherman tend to focus way too much on the equipment side of the sport. Down here in Florida there are only a couple of techniques you need to catch bass all year round and so littering your deck with 15 rods all with different baits is a waste of time. While I do have 13 rods they are only 3 types: 6 heavy action, 5 medium heavy action and 2 medium action rods. All my reels are identical. I also have 2 spinning rods but they are only for when I take someone fishing who can’t use a bait caster. Finesse fishing where I go is a recipe for heart break. “There be monsters where I fish … 😬”. I will usually tie on different versions of the same bait just so that I don’t have to waste time during the day changing colors or sizes. For example, right now on the lake I fish the only baits you need are topwater and a big worm so on my deck will be several different topwater and several different worm/weight combos, everything else stays in the rod locker.
