Spring is supposed to be easy but getting those first few fish can be tough until you’ve developed a consistent pattern. Matt and Tim show you the method they use to find bass quickly and efficiently so no time is wasted during your day on the water.
The key is using baits that get bit consistently but that can also be fished very quickly through likely areas. You don’t want to fish too fast and miss opportunities but you also can’t afford to slowly work each location hoping to run across active fish.
Here are Matt’s Bait picks…
Deep Water Jerkbait- Staysee 90: http://bit.ly/2dBzMmz
(Try American Shad or Aurora Black)
Shallow Water Jerkbait- Jackall Rerange: http://bit.ly/2ge0qED
(Try HL Hasu or HL Silver Shad)
Rattling Squarebill- River2Sea Biggie Poppa: http://bit.ly/2ahCzvo
(Try Cold Blooded or Rooster)
Creature Bait- Strike King Game Hawg: http://bit.ly/2pfGxir
Finesse Worm- Roboworm 6″ Fat Worm: http://bit.ly/2awYSxM
Here are Tim’s Bait Picks…
Glidebait- S-Waver 168: http://bit.ly/2aiu8Sh
(Try Light Trout Color)
Alabama Rig- Flash Mob Jr.: http://bit.ly/2bgDGNu
Heads- Matt Allen Swimbait Head: http://bit.ly/29RrTYN
Baits- 4.8 Keitech Fat Swing Impact: http://bit.ly/2ab7s8v
There are a lot of different ways to catch fish in Spring but the key is to maximize your time on the water. The faster you can locate productive areas with active schools of fish, the better your overall fishing experience will be. While many baits will work, these are the baits we rely on.

hi guys i'm fishing with the vision since 2021 using it with 77pound test fluoro leader because i'm only catching pike(+10 fish in a month) and i don't wanna loose this expensive bait ! so the heavy line can be the reason why i haven't catch a bass since october …. ??? i'm fishing a little over pressured pond , the bass is way too smart it's really hard like i know the bite will come maybe at the prespawn soon (i'm from france) anyways thanks for sharing all your knowledge even if the condition are different in my country and we don't have bass like there is in texas ^^ i mean real bass , i don't know if we got even 8 pounders in france
Here's a question. The weather is all over the place here at Lake Chickamauga, I'm fishing from the bank and I see bass blowing up on bait all over the place, but I can't get them to eat anything. How do I get their attention?
Perfect perfect, I love when you both do a video together ❤💪👍
You guys are far the best on youtube. Videos arent crazy long or too short . You give the best explanation of when where and why to use each bait
y’all should do an h20 express challenge!(that’s the academy brand) @lojofishing did this challenge a few weeks ago
I just got into bass fishing a few months ago. Love the videos and the in depth info you guys give. I watched this video and then watched the new jerkbait video while I was out of town. I stopped on my way home and bought my first jerkbait. I went out the next morning to a lake I had fished a couple times unsuccessfully. I used the jerkbait to cover water in the cove I got to in my kayak, and finally got my first fish from this lake, and my PB. Thanks again guys!
Yes yes yes I love it you guys are the real deal keep it up
Great informative vid as usual, thanks!
What about jigs? Better off with a shaky head in early spring?
Can I throw the 168 with a 7’2” medium heavy rod?😬
This channel is required viewing if you want to increase your catch rate.
I just started watching y'all about a month ago. I've started exploring into big swim baits because of y'all. Y'all are awesome and the info is priceless
I think another great follow up to the glidebait is a wacky rig senko.
I banged a 4 today on the 168 waver in Warden Hitch! It was a very effective and great tool to draw out the bass. They exposed themselves and let me know where they were. I threw a ripbait too and it worked in drawing a bass out as well. Your tips have helped me catch my last two big fish. Thank you for all the great information.
First of all, love your guys' videos. Informative, entertaining, and simple. I'm a rookie angler. But I would like to see what baits you would use with spinning gear. Because I don't have a baitcaster yet. I'm on a budget like most of us. And I was wondering have you guys tried a baitcaster reel I just heard of called piscifun torrent. If you can please give me some info.
Finally found the S-waver 168 in Lite Trout. Bass Pro Shop online finally had em in stock. TackleWarehouse was backordered until Mid-May. Can’t wait to get out there and try it!!!!
Facts. I start a lil different ….but around the same premises.
At what water temp would you start trying these baits?
Matt and Tim I'm in Florida we have mostly dark water lakes what color would ya'll recommend out here for the s-waver?
Thanks
Tim & Matt thank-you for this video
This is really helpful, this happened to us this weekend. On a pattern in it shut down towards mid day and couldn’t get back on em. Thanks a lot guys!!!
Matt, Tim,
In your opinion how do you determine when its time to switch baits or tactics?
I am leaning between two STARTER big swimbait rods. A dobyns fury 806 and a spiralite SMC80HMF. Both are around the same price point at about 120-125. Any suggestions?
Love the video presentation! How you show what you guys are talking about makes it easier for me to understand. Keep you the good work.
Do you believe it would be a good idea to put barrel swivels on the treble hooks of glide baits? My thought is it would give the fish less leverage and force to throw the bait when it starts going nuts on the surface. The bait would use that force to instead spin and maybe keep the fish on instead of coming to an abrupt stop and possibly ripping itself out of the fishes mouth.
This is a genuine question however but I don't know if the end result would be good or bad…
Having a seriously tough time here in Central VA. Feel like I've tried everything. The weather just hasn't been consistent at all. 70 degrees one day and snow the next. Really gotta slow things out and bust out the shakey head/jig. Hoping this weekend is better.
I literally fished that dock yesterday😂😂😂
As always just great stuff. Much appreciated. Thanks guys
Vision 110 gg deadly black shad w/o is my go to jerkbait
Love the videos, its nice to see a channel out there teaching fishing rather then showing exotic trips or silly Walmart, hello kitty rod etc. challenges. I also like the fact your not pushing products you may or may not be sponsored by, but showing variety of products to fit all budgets. Keep up the good work, and if your ever take a trip to the Midwest, hit me up would love to see how you fish these lakes like table rock, Stockton, Ozark, etc. Your bass out west maybe bigger but I think ours are meaner 🙂
good video guys
Great info as always guys! This is almost exactly how we have been pond fishing. Crank Baits and Lipless when they are active on warm days, drop shot when it gets a bit colder.
Just bought Shimano Casitas & Exage!! Can’t wait to try the combo, bought those & some new digital scales on tacklewarehouse.com! When are you guys going to create a store so us fans can purchase some tacticalbassin gear?
What other color of S-Waver works well in CA reservoirs???
Friday at my lake was a great day. 9-10 decent fish. Today not so much. Only caught 1. The water level went way up over the weekend. It made things difficult. Wish I would have watched this before heading out. Would have thrown different baits. Going back on Wednesday. I’ll keep this stuff in mind. Thanks guys!!!
Thanx guys.
Dude that bait on the cover of the vid is on fire. Love the vids guys
Everyone talks about the largemouth spawn but no one does anything about spawning Spotted bass. Could you do a video on that please. BTW, awsome videos
THESE GUYS R AWSOME BUT THIS VIDEO SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED FISHING FOR DUMMIES
Now tell me somethin people, anyone who's good at cranking. Does a crankbait always have to be grinding bottom or are you sometimes up in the column? I always hear about it having to be digging yet I've had minimal success doing it, so I'm just wondering if my understanding and approach is off.
