Spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits are two of the most popular moving baits for bass angler’s across the country. Chatterbaits and spinnerbaits work nearly year round, but are most effective in certain circumstances. Anglers often confuse the two and when to throw them, so let Ben from Milliken Fishing break it down for you!

Spinnerbaits are ideal for fishing shallow, hard cover like laydowns, stumps, and dock pilings. Add a little bit of wind and chop on the water’s surface into the mix and the spinnerbait will crush ’em.

Chatterbaits excel around shallow grass and weedlines. When fishing a chatterbait around shallow grass don’t be afraid to let that bait get bogged down in the grass and then rip it out to draw a big reaction strike.

I'm not going to lie, I use a weightless wacky rig or a wachy rig with a drop shot about 4 inches off of the hook. Catches bass and saugeye all day, if I'm going shiny or thumping bait I'm going chatter bait all day, you can let a chatter fall and all the way down it has a small thumping to it. Stick bait or chatter bait all day
what is your opinion on weedless chatterbait?
would it be better?
Neko rig is what they now call it, but we were using it in 1985. I,m an old guy 82 years old.
Age of spinnerbaits, the first one I found was on a stump in Dale Hollow lake in 1957. Yes 1957. It was a terrible example . #6 brass blade, 5/8 oz. With a Plastic skirt, but someone was catching fish on it.
Catches fish! Not sure how long they will last work great
Shoutout Millard Public Schools ๐๐๐
๐ you are not a spinnerbait guy.
Chatterbait my go to for bass
Great video. Super easy to follow and understand. Thanks
Are you a disc golf fan too? Looks like a Mason Ford shirt you're wearing.
I have a white one but with a purple zoom worm what uou think ?
This is a really good presentation… well done!
Thank you bro. Just learning the chatter bait. Haven't gotten anything yet, but this helped a lot. I think I am retrieving to fast like a spinner bait. I appreciate you โบ๏ธ.
Nice shirt, where can I get one?
I just started fishinf again, took a longgggg break in between. I found a brand new original chatterbait in my old tackle box. It has the gold head and hook. They dont make them with the gold head and hook anymore, i googled it lol. Makes me not want to use it hahaha
Whats the point in the motor cover while your on the water?
If you can't decide just throw a worm
I throw spinners and chatters all day in the st.lawrence and northern clear waters and catch all the time. Both baits just ๐ฅ will catch anything anywhere
Just gained confidence in Chatterbaits recently. I used it in some tough wind two days ago, and was impressed how much I was getting hit. We had some strong gusts, and folks were throwing senkos. I used a chatterbox, and they wouldn't quit hittng!
Can you use it for stripe bass?
Love watching you man. Your without doubt one of the best Bass fisherman. Iโm sure you could do good in Bassmaster tournaments but do what you want. Thanks for the teaching
i live and die by the spinner
Iโm going to faint if I ever actually catch a fish on a chatterbait.
Kawartha lakes have some really good Summer Bass action right now. COVID restrictions have been lifted and weโre getting a lot of fishermen looking for the big bite on the water and offshore. I have 4 rods setup on my dock with Choppo, Texas rig , crank bait no bill , and the jitterbug which still outperforms Choppo and Whopper Plopper. Tight lines!
Thanks ive always used a spinner bait never really tied on a chatter bait
Do you throw them on a Medium Heavy or a Heavy rod? I'm now in Florida for a few months and there's SOOOO much heavy vegetation here compared to northern Georgia.
Good job I love your videos I learned even more about fishing I have videos too but I am still quite young ๐
We all know u only throw 6th sense cranks
This guy should be a bouncer not a fisher
How many times did you cast until you caught one! ๐
Thanks I'm new and learned a lot from your video. The pond closest to me is clear water with grass bottom but not much shade. Thought I'd try the two you just talked about. May have to save for fall at the big dam lake the.
NO RESPOND, because I'm definetly confused!
This Mystery Tackle Box.
Is this site that ALL U great Anglers ๐ use?
After I finished this video, i clicked on another video following yours and this guy was with MTB and had NOTHING to do with U???
Damn mann, hiw many channels U have?
Great Video ๐๐.
I have finally found a video where u basically show how to rig up
Still U don't mention size of Hooks?
When your using a Trailer Hook, do u rig the trailer bait on JUST the Trailer Hook?
I remember catching walleyes on spinner baits!! I like using a red spinner
