Simply changing Colors turned the Big Bass Bite on

Back in the Yak at the pond that became my favorite last year just because of it’s secluded location and the fact that it holds some big Bass, both Largemouth and Smallmouth. This day started out cool and foggy and the Bass bite just was not happening and it looked like it was going to be a Pickerel kind of day. Caught a couple small Bass on the worm but when I switched over to the Orange and Black TRD the Bite turned on with some really quality Bass including my now Biggest Largie of the year, a 3 lb. 14 oz. Beauty. Was it the color change or the Bait itself….I’m thinking color.
Thanks for coming along as always ……..Peace.

  1. Man a color change made all the difference! I love Z Man baits, they are tough as nails. I’m very surprised that you didn’t get anything on the buzzbait, it usually drives bass and pickerel crazy!! All of that timber looks like it would have some giants in it, just like that big one you caught! Great day of fishing and great video Don!!

  2. That one you lost on the Hellgrammite early on looked like a nice one. O for 3 to start but luckily ole mister pick got that skunk off. That black and blue worm and FitzDinger always do well for you and the bass and pickerel were enjoying it. Some very nice bass on the TRD. I think color change, but more importantly, a change in presentation, can make all the difference. Great way to end the session with an almost 4 pounder and a chunker to follow.

  3. What a great day that turned out to be. I love the air of mystery that the fog brings. Just when it looked like you were going to play with the Slime Darts all day, a change in tactics brought out the Big Bass. I like how smartly you played that one that lassoed you on that branch, he must have tied his favorite Boy Scout knot, Haha.
