  1. I looked up this issue because I've noticed in a lot of these bass fishing videos on youtube, these dudes will have $60,000-$100,000+ of just rods laying at the front of their $80,000+ boats and I was curious if anyone was talking about how incredibly expensive it's become to be an angler. Of course I can go out in my Johnboat or kayak and catch fish on my Shakespeare setup, but it feels impossible to even consider fishing at the required level to even break even on a tournament. It feels like golf always has. If you don't have a minimum amount of passive disposable income, you cant even get a foot in the door. It's definitely a rich-man's sport, disguised as an every-man's sport.

  2. I can't even afford a bass boat let alone a truck to pull it with 110 thousand for a new ranger boat the price of this shit is ridiculous 10 dollars for a spinner bait or jig bs

  3. My mom and dad were not rich but I wanted by all means to become a PRO , but it just was not in my cards , I couldn’t afford it plan and simple , but one thing is for sure I know I could compete with them that’s for sure , I was raised fishing from 5 years old with my dad , my dad took me every weekend and I loved every minute of it

  4. It’s not that he’s standing up and telling the truth with bulls balls, it’s just common freakin sense. All you have to do is go on line and do something as small as making a tackle order. You can spend a grand on tackle and it comes in a shoe box. That’s got nothing to do with traveling expenses. The mind blowing thing is because of all the money it takes is that the best angler in this country doesn’t even fish for a living, not sure who he is but it’s the truth

  5. I guess if you're going into fishing you better have wealthy parents or a sugar momma! Thanks for your insight on this Randy. Pretty eye-opening and kinda sad to be honest.

  6. Time and technology and money has risen this sport beyond most anglers pocket books mainly the working class people which is what this sport was built around we are seeing the result of corporate invasion on every hook line sinker graph rods and reels etc. it’s all about money and if you don’t have it you can’t play it’s not about just the pay outs and the entry fees … I would just like to see some product’s that are made here in the US
And yes they are right big bass big dreams are only meant for the few😢

  7. It’s always been that way. How do you think Hank Parker made it big ? His wife was/is part of the Lance snack food company. No worries about insurance, retirement, 401k , or anything. Just got to fish and practice when he needed or wanted to.

  8. I love Bass fishing.. But muskie fishing is my passion I fish 3 muskie tournaments a year and fish about every weekend besides the 3 tournaments it's very very expensive..2021 alone I spent 73 thousand dollars just muskie fishing that year and that is me financing everything no sponsor.. I agree with you everything is getting ridiculously expensive.. BTW I just subscribed to your channel..

  9. Thanks Randy for all your videos, I have learned alot from you. The cost of fishing in tournaments at a high level is no different than most sports. Use car racing of any kind, it is astronomical how much it cost to race for real amounts of money. Not many people can compete with the big dogs in any sport. Thanks again, good luck!

  10. The internet is killing the tournament angler game as far as sponsors are concerned. Think about it, a company can reach more people from a person who has a big following on Youtube, Instagram, Twitter & TIktok. Imagine how many anglers on Youtube make more money. Guys are making $10,000 – $25,000 a month that have never fished one single tournament

  11. my insight to pro fishing is that it has become rich kids gone fishing!! Iknow the youth is the sseds for the sport but where is the money coming from? mostly mom & pop financing them by sponsoring them { taxwrite offs} sure they picking up contingency money here & there but to be consistantly pulling down top tens you must stay on the water, that means they have no job or business interests outside fishing!! RICH MANS SPORT NOW

  12. America's Cup, Horse racing , Indy Car, Rich Guys with something to prove. Limit the electronics . I am suprised that state DNRs don't limit the technology that gives the angler/hunter an unfair advantage over the wildlife. Also no more than two fish taken by explosives !
