Had one of my best days of speed fishing this morning. Got a late start and tried some spots that have been hot the last couple of weeks. Came up empty so I made my way around to hit some of the bayous. Landed a nice 16.5” trout in front of Big Pasture. Would’ve stayed and caught some more, but boat traffic burned out my spot so I decided to move on.
Wind was in the single digits and the tide was still high, so I decided to work my way towards some of the back ponds along the ICW. I’m getting more confident using the poling skiff to go skinnier and further back in the marsh. The further back I go, the cleaner the water and redfish get stuck back there making them easier to locate and catch.
Caught one redfish TWICE. Lost it right at the boat, it took off, threw my lure right ahead of it and she hit it and ended up in the boat. Sight casted a nice 27” red right next to the boat. The third slot was caught using a Marker 54 under a cork. The other reds AND the crab were caught using a KDen 365 Pearl Shad.
