I have used my buddies 40 year old pond as a test tank for years lol Those fish are so conditioned to almost everything that it has become such a challenge lol A young kid tricked one over 5lbs a couple weeks ago because we got heavy rain and the water got dirty. Every couple years I'll catch a 5lb+ out of it, but back 15 years ago it would be like catching 2-4lb fish regularly and one over 5 once a month or so. They are still in there, the shad population is healthy, the pan fish population is still strong, they are just that much smarter from being fished for generation after generation lol

I caught a 9 lb channel cat on a spook and it annihilated it even more viciously than a big bass. I’ve caught a lot of cats, and big ones up to 40 lbs on lures, but I think that was my only one on a topwater and I’ve been a hard core fisherman over 50 years.
