Pickwick Tourney (LEADING DAY 1 with BIG bag!!)

The final tournament in the hobie bass open series takes us to lake pickwick, second week of september. This so happens to be the same time of year I won the KBF southeastern Regional championship two years ago!! (That video is on my channel!) So needless to say, I was STOKED for this one! However… with about 13 other bass boat tourneys going on both during the week and weekend, the lake was experiencing an unprecedented amount of pressure. I checked the area I won, and it was covered in boats. So when that fails, I usually just go up river and junk fish and see what happens. I would end up finding a VERY good pattern that produced giant largies AND smallies!!

  1. I live about 1/2 miles away from that park where you were fishing. One of my favorite places to fish. I have been fishing along that area for the past 50 years. Enjoy your videos keep up the good work. and good luck .

  2. I always enjoy your tourney video's just to watch how you approach the lake and where you choose to fish and always enjoy seeing the fish you catch and how excited you always are. Your passion always shows through which is inspiring always wish you the best and keep crushing those fish!

  3. Great vid. Be GLAD you didn't put in by the islands and grass. There were at least 15-20 yaks that put in at pride landing and another 15-20 bass boats all fishing that area, plus others that came in throughout the day. There was only maybe 2 kayak guys that did well outta all that mess. There was plenty of fish; but they were highly pressured, you had to think outside the box to get them and to get enough to get a good limit and some culls. I actually had a conversation at the ramp on friday and again on saturday. A lot of us that didn't know pickwick well and didn't get very much practice put in there mostly because of your pickwick video from 2 years ago. On friday another guy and myself discussed how crowded it would be right in that area because of your pickwick vids from winning the tournament at near the same time of the year on grass lines and grass flats by islands. People that didn't have anything else were gonna put in there solely from that video. Thats part of reason I put in there on practice, but tourney day i thought I had found a lil pattern within a pattern-—current pinch point between islands with bait and grass, I had it to myself,- it just didn't pan out on tourney day.
You made the right decision for sure, just goes to show why you are great at this sport and a fantastic decision maker—- and that history can not be trusted to provide winning level fish in seasons afterwards

  4. Let's go my sister get ur done and God willing you can win and I can win also in my fall NAPRA league I am in now. I am tied for 5th place currently. Sincerely "The Dayton Metro Smallmouth Slayer" and your fellow Angler and brother🙏💯💙🙌💪🔥🤺🎣🐟.

  5. Any tips on dressing for kayak fishing in the cold months? Nervous to be on the water when cold shock is possible but don't want to quit fishing either (GA).

  6. I really enjoy watching your videos. But if I was legally bank fishing I would feel a certain kind away about some stranger telling me leave specially sense I only get to go a couple hours a week if I’m lucky. Needless to say I wouldn’t be going anywhere. Bank fishing people have a very very limited access to the water compared to the people that are on boats and kayaks

  7. Well done! Love the thought process after seeing a bunch of anglers throwing movin baits to go against the grain, downsizing your cricket, and fishin slow. If I’ve learned anything from fishin derbs, usually the anglers that think differently do well….Whether it’s throwing an alternative bait, changing up their retrieve or time they let their cricket sit, or just finding that “needle in a haystack” type of spot. Rip their lips on Day 2, tight lines, and good luck!

  8. Hoping that your pattern held up to the changing conditions… but have faith either way. You are a pretty smart cookie and will adapt to the circumstances. Congrats on leading on the first day Kristine, big boost for the self esteem!

  9. Way to go!!! I hope you win!!! I live in the south central part of Alabama and never fished Pickwick. I just fish the ponds but I would one day like to fish some bigger lakes. That was an awesome day for you!!!

  10. Always good to see a video. Do you change factory hooks on crank baits? Id love to see some tips and techniques you use. That would be a great video. I was in a rain like that once and had two hrs left in the tourney. Cold and wet my partener and I sat in a slip the rest of tourney..lol
