His Swimbait flies by his head as it comes out of the giant’s mouth! Matt had the 15 lber right up to the edge of the net and when she came off she didn’t even know it and just kept thrashing! It was soooo close!

Matt was throwing an 8″ Huddleston Deluxe Swimbait in a large pond from an aluminum boat when the monster bass bit. He was using gear that wasn’t strong enough and it was all he could do to battle the giant bass! Losing that fish has replayed in Matt’s mind hundreds if not thousands of times and even now remains as a constant reminder to keep his gear dialed in and stay focused.

I have caught 0 double digits😂
Ive never caught a fish over 10 but came close and my knot came loose and the big girl seam away with a 10 inch power worm ribbon just working outside her mouth as she said Adios
I caught a post spawn skinny 8 pounder that I’m always going to say was an easy 10 pre spawn lol that fight with that fish is the high I chase every day it’s hard to put into words but it’s life changing so I couldn’t even fathom the feeling of loosing a 15 plus fish I feel for you bro
Cool story
That's a huge bass I've had some 10 plus shake the hook out I thought if I had a net I would've gotten her but that's what keeps me bass fishing looking for 10 pounders or more man matt that's a hard fish story to hear
I know what you mean man I lost a giant a month ago and the worst part is that I did nothing wrong.
Matt, the part about fishing for the 22 days and changing life course. It was what I needed to change my life and go peruse being a fishing guide. Thanks so much for the inspiration to live my best life 🙂
I have nerver laughed so hard watching a video, I thought you were joking about hurting your elbow by catching a monster.
Man I never knew you made all of these videos until now. Loving all of them, you should make more! I dream everyday of my first double digit bass. Here in NH it’d be a state record!
i feel your pain iv'e been there lost the heaviest fish of my life twice thank you for sharing
jump in and net
When I was 15 I was bass fishing in the spring river in mammoth springs Arkansas and was introduced into swimbaits and there potential. I purchased a 8in rof12 hud (didn’t know what rof12 meant rof5 world of been better). I fished it for a week out of my kayak and never got a bite and a front came in and I hooked what I thalt was a monster. it pulled me in my kayak for what I that was an hour and finely I seen what I had hooked it was an about 5 ft musky with a mouth full of teeth and all I had was my 2 ft wood trout net. I wrestled with this fish for a few more minutes trying to land this toothy fish by hand and one more dive he broke my 25 lb mono. And I have fished and fished that river so many times trying for a rematch and have never gotten the chance. I can still see that fish floating next to my kayak and 8 years later still sick over that fish.
Do you still fish that body of water?
Literally it would have been instinct for me to jump in the water lol. I've done it with 6 lbers, I wouldnt have even taken a second thought to jump in for a 15 😂
Not sure how big it was I've caught a 6 pounder and it made that look tiny. I was fishing for trout and smaller bass with a crappie tube and ultra light rod. Hooked into a huge bass didn't know at first seemed small until it jumped and spit my hook I just stood there and stared at the lake for a while.
I would of dove so fast with that net when she just sat there hell id of chases her ass all the way to the shore then drag her ass up the bank lol thats still kool though not many people ever even get a chance to hook let alone almost land a fish that big and she was a healthy big bass cause usually ones that big when they have to fight like that they usually die from being older but she was healthy if she fought like that and then swam right back off could of been a monster that was only for 5 or 6 years old she could still be there lol
I've listened to this story at least a half dozen times. Just had my son listen to it with me again. Best fish story I've ever heard! My boys bought me a guided trip on Lake Travis next weekend, so got fishing on the brain. Had to bust out this story for one of my boys to get him spun up. It worked! thanks!
I haven’t had an experience with loosing a big one but I lost one about 4-5lb range during a high school tournament, it had been a really tough day and it wasn’t till the last 30min I finally got into some fish and they all came back to back cast like boom hookup keeper and another and another but then I hook into one that’s quite noticeably bigger than the others and I was using light tackle and I was already freaking out from the first 3 keepers I got and so I was horsing this fish a bit harder than I should have and I get it close to the boat and then it makes a hard run and my thumb just so happened to be on the spool when he made that run and then snap goes my line and my fish so I retie and fire back out there and stuck one more keeper but I get back to weighin and 12lbs ends up winning the tournament I was sitting in 4th place with just over 8.5lbs for 4 fish so if I would’ve had that big one I would’ve had the tournament won
Haha! Great story telling bud.
Great story👍🏻
Glad you got hooked on it brother. You are inspiring all of us to be better.
I love his stories always the best
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬👋👋👋👋 bye bye Monster Bass, I'm so sorry Matt 🤣😂
Dang brother that is super crappy! I would feel alot worse for you if you hadn't just got 2 double digits including a BEHEMOTH 17 FRIGGIN POUNDER!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN BRO! What other baits do you make or endorse? I have a bunch of Dirty Jigs, and I have caught some monsters on em!
Yup, lost a 11ish when I was 25 years old in Norcal…Broke him off on a buzz bait that I should have retied a few casts earlier, but got lazy…Fish jumped multiple times so close to the boat that my Dad actually was trying to swat him out of the air like a butterfly…I'm now 53 years old, caught my pb this year weighed and released a 8.75 lber. in my new home in Idaho… Thought the curse was over, but I still remember the bigone that I lost like it was yesterday. That said, I'm glad I had the experience, just wish I had the pic :)! You tell the best stories Matt, keep up the great work!!
Love the stories from here in Australia….would kill to fish with you one day
What a great story!
Yet Another Amazing Story Matt. Quick Question: Do You know how many DD's You've actually caught to date?
Same
2 years ago I was fishing a crank bait at a local pond. I was just getting into bass fishing and using my dads spinning combo. I was bank fishing and I got to this point and when I reeled in my crankbait, about 1 or 2 feet from the bank this 7-9lb bass comes and snatches my crankbait. Dumb me had set the line as tight as possible from the snag I was getting off the cast before. That huge fish snaps the line basically the second it hits that crankbait
I feel your pain man. I live in ohio so 5lb bass are big for the lakes i fish. I was throwing a buzzbait a few weeks ago and the biggest bass i ever had the chance to catch hit the same way this one did and immediately snapped my lews rod. Hit it like a mack truck ):
That's one you just gotta dive in for. Grab that net and jump in head first.
I’ve caught some big red fish and some big sharks.
I went fishing in a pond where this one dude who stocks It with 8+pounders,It was dark and I saw a small blow up I cats their and I see a bass eat it(since I’m thinking about the flash that I saw which I thought was it’s belly it was it’s mouth holy shlt now since I REALLY think about it that was it’s mouth)I set the hook(I freaking smoked that fish like it was the hardest hook set of my life)and (I’ve hooked bass over 8 easily)it goes from right next to a bank to 10 foot of water(I had like 37 yards of line out)and all that line want 37 yards out and I couldn’t stop her(with this same rod I’ve turned 10+pound redfish in STRONG STRONG current)And literally couldn’t stop her and idk if y’all have ever caught a jack before but it’s uses it’s whole body to fight bc it’s body is so wide.Every big bass I’ve hooked did the same thing uses its body this one used which I can only guess was 10+ pounds so that’s a THICKK body used it and if I would of had looser drag(I don’t catch big fish every big fish I’ve hooked came off)I would of caught that fish.
This your best story by far
Happened to me yesterday, wasn’t a 16, but it was abt a 11. I was ready to cry
I would’ve jumped in with the net and got it while it was still shaking her head
Great story. Makes me want to go fishing even more.
The lake he is talking about is so presherd
I fish the lake ware he cought his pb all of the time and I never catch anything
