In this episode I venture out to one of my most consistent bass fishing spots in late fall to see if I can find some fish. While I have fished this lake on many occasions, I had never attempted it during this time of year, so I was curious how active the fish would be.
The action started almost immediately, but for the most part, I struggled to find a consistent pattern for the largemouth bass. Overall, this spot has gotten tougher to fish for the bass in the past year, and I didn’t find any good sized fish. However, the day was balanced out by several chain pickerel that were more eager than the bass to attack my lures. I swapped between several different baits of varying sizes and actions throughout the day, and many of them managed to catch a fish…but only one or two. Overall the pickerel were a pleasant surprise as I had only caught one at this location over the years before this day. I also managed to find a bonus bluegill when I swapped to by BFS travel combo. Come along for a late fall session of “junk fishing” for largemouth bass and chain pickerel.
