Check out what tackle John Crews used at legendary Lake Fork to catch the bass he weighed during the May 2022 Bassmaster Elite event.

I’d also be interested in what all you tried that didn’t work.
Any tips/tricks for increasing your hookup rate on that plopper?
Great suggestion on the hydration sticks! Just the right amount of sodium/potassium/magnesium!! Best I’ve seen!!! Thanks Johnny!!
nice to see someone talking about how great the asegai braid is. i love the stuff but it seems like it never gets the hype it deserves
You say you were using the 7'3" med-heavy Cashion for the Plopper. But on the blank it says 7'4" heavy?
Was really hoping to see ya bust that Trophy my man! Not sure if it’s even going to be worth showing up at Fork if Lee Livesay is fishing the tournament moving forward! Lol Dudes a machine on that lake. Appreciate the info sir!
Thank you John!! Great information!! Can't wait for the release of the Magic Worm!! Black Blue and Ed's Orange look killer!! Have to order plenty!!
Thanks for the video.
By the way, what about Daiwa Zillion SV TW G? You said you have ordered a bunch of those a long time ago, but still using Tatula. Thanks.
One more question, how did you come to the colors you used on the 2 shaky head worms, instead of using something more natural? Was it just experimenting?
Why a 7 ft heavy for shaky head?
113 pounds. I'd say it's fishing pretty good! Lol
I've caught a few on bream beds at Lake Fork, that's where the five and six pounders go for lunch. I actually sight fish for them. They surround the bed area and you can pick them off if the water isn't mud. Similar to bed fishing but more satisfying.
All my fish this weekend came off the Quiver 6.5 Watermelon Red Core. Can't wait till that Magic Worm gets out
Thanks John for always sharing your info and answering questions. You’re the best. Can’t wait to get a hold of the Magic Worm especially that Black Grape ♥️
Do have a specific release date for the magic worm? I'm definitely gonna grab a bunch. Missle are my go to soft plastic baits.
Like I was telling you on T (not that you didn't know already) timing is so critical on Fork. For some reason, even more so than other lakes and I don't really know why. Last year I was out there, mostly just watching, but we pulled into an area and figured wet a line as no one was in that area. On the electronics, it was a ghost town. We left and went back to just watching. An hour or so later, Lee pulls into the exact same spot and loads the boat with bigs. Now, obviously there is a huge disparity in fishing skills between a week end hack, like myself and a professional angler, but the electronics don't differ that much.
You definitely had the juice with the shakey head and your soft plastic. I watched most of this tournament on livecast (well, to the extent that you can on such a POS website like BASS) and I looked around in the boats and virtually all had some form of that tied on. Obviously, the G-Man was making hay with it. Most had the same color (or close variation thereof) as well. So, you definitely had the bait "juice", just on the wrong fish.
Quesions:
1) You were catching fish, just not those big enough to make it. While you were fishing, how much did you think about bailing on the fish you had in search of bigger ones? I feel you had to know what you were catching wasn't going to do it, and I know it must be hella tough to leave fish to go find fish. Can you get into your thought process on that? Did you think since you were on fish it was just a waiting game till the right fish showed up or what?
2) I know you had to have a "pre-tournament plan" going into this, so did it fish like you thought it would or you had to make adjustments that were a lot different than you anticipated, etc?
3) The usual ubiquitous question of: If you had to do something different, knowing what you know now, what would it have been?
Thanks, dawg
