I had a few hours to kill after work. Little did I know it would turn into one of the funnest days I’ve ever spent on the water. I put in at the South Point Access Area in Belmont, NC. Even though I’ve already shot a video here, I recently moved and this location looks to be my new Lake Wylie home base, so I figured I’d ought to familiarize myself with what it has to offer…

  1. Great fishing.

Curious, do you have a video about your camera setups or could you share how you have them set up and looks like you have power to the rear one.

  2. This is actually about 5 mins from my house. I have fished there for years but have been wondering how rough the water was for kayaking, another reason I love your videos you always give a good view of the boat landing and surroundings. For people like me who are rather new to kayaking this really means a lot. My wife was just asking if they had opened the new area up yet. Also that Cat was huge! 😮

  3. I like Wylie. I am not sure it would be much fun in the summer, the lake design really doesn't give much protection from wake. But my type of place. Rip rap, docks, tons of spots, and apparently some nice cats. Good stuff man.

  4. The back to back to back fish would be awesome during a tournament, but you will definitely take it whenever you can. Great video. Glad to see you really having a good time in the water. And what stud of a catfish for bass fishing. When I took off I thought a striper took off with it.

  5. Glad you put a smacking on em Josh! Wylie has been nothing but fun all year for me. Probably the best Ive had in 30+ years! The spots have definitely taken over but they are fun to catch. Largemouth have become few and far between unfortunately. You had a great few hours on the pond! Great video and Tight lines <><

  6. I kinda miss those aggressive Carolina catfish. I use to catch one on plastic lures almost every time I went bass fishing up there. Retired to central Florida 6 months ago. Been catching lot's of bass the past 6 months……but nary a single catfish. Enjoyed the video. 👍

  7. Looks like a good day!! That one bobber was holding that pipe together lol

Btw, the river has warmed up! Defending on if they chill out with running the dam so much the water should be low and clear enough for wading this week!

  8. Man that was an nice 14.5 catfish man. Would have been nice if it was a bass. That would have made the day. But you had a good day though on the water & that a good thing. Video like this is why I can't wait to get back on my Kayak. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it. See you next weekend.
