That wasn't even eating. She was clearly picking it up and throwing it away from the bed.. Bass don't eat during spawn. Only way you catch them on beds is by getting lucky with the hook being in their mouth when they attack the lure.

It reminded me of a time when I was bed fishing this spring… I had put a split shot on the front of a jerk bait so it would sink then jerk and sink then jerk , then all the sudden this 5 pounder just slammed it, I go to set the hook then I slip and fall into the water but the fish was still on my lure, So I had go after my fishing pole grab it get out of the water and get the fish in… my dad was laughing so hard
I’m late to the party, but I appreciate the underwater footage more than anything. I’m an old-timer, and we always had to blindly cast and get lucky. We guessed and made mental notes. You could put a pattern together, but to be able to observe your prey in natural habitat is priceless! That helps tremendously on trying to fool em with lures. See their actions & reactions. This is the best video of actual bass-catching footage that I have ever seen. A duo hook by the anal fins on the lure would have assured a sooner hookup. Whether out of hunger or territoriality, this bass was looking for the green light for “Let’s Go!”

I am a novice but it seems like the Bass wasn't that hungry and tasted the bait…and was later intrigued by the movement.
I wish there was a way to get a good underwater camera angle to see an entire fight underwater
