Of all the memories I have from growing up fishing with grandpa, watching him catch bass on this Shakespeare Swimming Mouse is among my favorites. On this trip I decide to tie on his old mouse lure and see if I can catch them like grandpa. It ends up being a day I’ll never forget!

Damn, this one hit hard.
This is what fishing is about. The sentimental weight in the video is huge. I hope to have a grandchild someday that will honor me in the way you have honored your granddad (:
I ABSOLUTELY love the emotion. You are a surgeon with your baitcaster, and a heart of gold!! Wish i could fish with ya one day!! Keep em Tight brother!
Thank you for being a real fishermen and I will pray ๐ for you and your Grandpa
The uni knot, wrapped 9 times, stronger then the palamar, from Joe Brann
Great video. A glimpse of great fishing and family life. Thanks, Matt.๐
You are quite literally the BOB ROSS of angling. You're calm demeanor is soothing and keeps me watching all of your videos. This one, in particular, hits close to home.
Who watched this video and wishes that somebody still made the Shakespeare mouse?
Grandpa is always with you! Every time you set out on the water!
In how many feet was the depth in what you were casting in?
Can't say that your grandpa isn't still with you that proves he's watching you have the time of your life congratulations man ๐ I can't break over 5 and a half pound's just can't do it but sure won't stop try awesome ๐
That's awesome man ๐
I just dug through your videos to find this. This video is so calming
Tears in my eyes again for the third time, thanks Matt
Epic
Big cool. Thanks for sharing. My sister recently gifted me so lures from my dad and grandpaโs tackle box and now Iโm going to take them out one more time.
Probably my favorite fishing video ever. ๐ข
That was.

Awwww ! โฆ.. Iโm not crying it my allergies that are acting up !!!!
Awesome video and Catch of your personal best yes I agree I would retire that Lure your Grandpa would be very proud ๐ฃ
From start to finish, this video captures what fishing is all about. THE classic amongst a couple dozen Ndyak classics. All the rest of your vids are merely great.
Been watching you for years man. By far the best fishing channel Iโve come across. I watched this video when you first posted it and Iโm back again. Bringing a tear to my eye with you using your grandpas lire
The grip you had on that pike made me laugh๐๐๐ that thing was not breaking your line and getting away๐๐
Like so many other viewers have commented, I got misty eyed watching this video of you catching your personal best bass on your grampa's old mouse lure.
It brought back treasured memories of my grampa teaching me and my brother how to fish and watching him catch lunkers with his, now vintage, top water lures.
Thank you so much for making these videos. Your calm and casual style of fishing that emphasizes the experience of being one with nature, rather than conquering fish, is exactly what I want to see. You've been an influence on me, as I've taken to simplifying my weekend fishing trips in Wisconsin's smaller lakes.
Now, I use a canoe and a paddle, bringing with me only two poles and a small box of lures. I target mostly bass or pike, but will sometimes get plenty of enjoyment just jigging for panfish. But even if I don't catch anything, I'm still happy to be on the water taking in the sights, sounds, smells, and feel of being on the water.
โthat ones for you grandpaโ really got me๐ฅบ
This just proves you dont need all the electronics and highend gear to lock on a monster,…great catches
Currently watching my 8 yr old son die of cancer. Will never get to share these moments with him, will never get to be grandpa. Life has lost all meaning
Way to go Bro, that was Awesome ! A beautiful tribute sir ๐
