I Tested a Micro Finesse Rig for Winter Bass (Did NOT Expect This)

In this video, I focus on winter drop shot fishing from the bank, using a micro size soft plastic and a finesse approach.

Although the weather felt warm with blue skies and sunshine, the fish were still in a winter pattern. After heavy rain, water levels were high and water temperature had dropped, making conditions challenging for bank anglers.

I decided to target smaller bass holding tight to shallow cover with a micro drop shot. After avoiding a skunk with a small bass, I moved slightly offshore to fish a drop off and made a simple lure change.

That adjustment led to an unexpected surprise.

A stocked trout ate the micro drop shot meant for bass.

This video shows why going smaller and slowing down can make a big difference in winter fishing, and how finesse techniques can trigger bites when fish are picky.
Thanks for watching.

  1. Great catches wakisan. In Australia we call it a doughnut, not skunked. Sounds more pleasant. Would you give jackall scissor comb on Carolina rig a go? I saw Shimano EU catching BIG winter perch on it

  2. I've finally kind of gave up here from the bank, the last fish I caught from the bank was end of December on a Neco Cameron, Neko rigged. Last 2 trips were uneventful, no bites, no follows, no sightings. 3 inches of snow this weekend in East TN, it won't be long though… Interesting technique Waki, I don't blame you on chasing those babies lol.
