I like to use my medium action spinning rod for salt water stripers. caught a few 36 inch stripers on 8 lb test. had to use my thumb on the spool to keep the fish from stripping all my line. eventually I get them in. about a 5 minute fight. Its great and I do it so often, I'm getting more confident I'll land it – I am calmer
