  1. I have the 7ft 2pc with a Presidental reel and 20lb braid I bought for traveling. Really sensitive with enough backbone to set hooks on plastics. I'm buying the 6ft for local bank fishing. Can't beat it for the price. I also have a few too many other rods at 63yo a some are old Fenglass which was the bomb 40 yrs ago.

  2. While most of my rods are St. Croix rods on my boat. I use Avids, Mojos, etc. and have over a dozen of them for different things in the rod locker. I bought some older model brown colored Fenwick Eagles probably 7yrs ago now for friends to use who came out and fished with me with some level entry Lews speel spools for a baitcaster, lower Shimano for a spinning reel etc. Well, the old models are still holding up extremely well, and I have 6 of them now. 2 are the newest model purchased recently with the blue color and improved guides and nicer reel seat. I got one 'all around' spinning rod I like to call it and its a 6'6" medium power, fast action. 6-12lb line. with a new 2500 series Nasci on it..Good feel for drop shots, wacky rigging, finesse texas rigs etc. The other I got was their smallest offering. The 5ft 1 piece L power, moderate action, 2-8lb line matched with a 1000 series Nasci reel…I got that for me for creek trout fishing. I was gonna get the 5'6" UL model and wished the light model came in 5'6" as well, but no big deal…Needed something under 6ft along these little streams, and they stock some bigger golden rainbows and browns that can exceed 7lbs in some areas. Yeah that would be a ride with that little thing..Be chasing it down river to net him before he tires too much for sure..
For the money they work very well and new new model has improved feel over the older brown colored blank model. I'm not gonna say it feels anything like one of my $200+ Avids, but I would compare it to most $100 rods, plus they're super durable. Like I said, I have had them get steady use out of the boat for going on their 8th season and they have pulled in everything from big largemouth to Tiger muskies to big channel cats….Even on a lightweight spinning rod it handled a 10lb cat without damage..impressive and durable..Well worth paying a little more to get a good name brand rod…I always tell people to skip those cheap combo deals and save a few more bucks as you will be much happier in the end. I will continue purchasing these new model ones as I like them myself too. Buy different tapers and weights for different techniques at a good price point and they work, even hold up to tournament fishing.
I do want to try some Falcons in the near future as well though…St. Croix is getting way up there these days…Falcon makes some decent rods from what I hear from fair prices. They were at one time made in USA as well..not all models now though, just like St. Croix either though.

  3. After using the 6'6 Light Travel 3pc and 5'6 Ultra Light 2pc last year, these newer blue ones are exceptional for the price. Looking to add one for bass and upgrade the reels to Shimano Miravels.

  4. Thoughts on a Shimano Sahara 1000 paired with a 6' Finwick Eagle light? Wondering if this would be versatile enough for some fun bass fishing, but also good enough for trout and crappie.

  5. I like that rod. It’s been on my short list for awhile. Its moderate action seemed to me like it would be good for crankbaits. I especially like that the hook keeper is up on the blank well ahead of the fore grip, because I hold my spinning rods with my hand completely in front of the reel, no fingers behind it. Too often they are within an inch of the fore grip and they get in my way.
