Most people know that some of the best bass lakes in the country are in East Texas. Yes there is the legendary Lake Fork, but there are many that people don’t think of or even know about. Lake Athens falls on this list. Fun fact is that this lake is less than a mile from one of the major hatcheries for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department so it gets the freshest stock of any of the lakes we have. A day on the lake and it becomes apparent that this lake is loaded with fish and they are hungry! This video shows what an average day on the lake looks like.
