In this video, I test drop shot rigs underwater in an Olympic size swimming pool. I film the action of the drop shot with different weights, baits and leader lengths and give tips and instruction on the best setup, hooks, line, and retrieve for fishing a dropshot offshore for bass. Hope you enjoy!

Another great and informative video!
I'm betting a free drop shot resolves issues brought with heavier weights.
Suggest not hooking a wacky style with the hook running with the worm…neko style. Wacky perpendicular, at the weight or buoyancy center of whatever worm you are using. The reason being that your hook and knot angle can actually leverage the worm and push one end down… not what you wanted when you chose to wacky. Next suggestion is drop a few worms into water of the temp you will be fishing. They should float or sink horizontally very slowly. If they nose down, the heavy salt toward the nose may be a problem, if they sink at all they will eventually hang tail down when dead sticking the rig. On robo skinny worms just raking the bottom to take off some salt makes a difference.
That floating worm was NOT merthiolate, it was bubble gum.
So we worry about line visibility, but that giant metal shank haging in front of the lure is…?
Great informative video thanks Tyler
Whatever man
Knowing this information is very helpful. Love it.
9:00 It looks like your heavier weight was a ball. You were casting it on a smooth sloped bottom surface. That would make it roll down the surface and pull the lure down with it. I wonder if you would see the same effect on a flat surface?
Nice I didn't think a dropshot would ever be worth it from shore butthis proves it's vry usable. Much ike how people claim a bottom bounce only works for trolling. I use bottom bouncers in summer for walleye from the shore. They work very vell if you trime the worm harness leaders to a castable length,
you should try using a slip bobber without a stopper on a drop shot setup. Just to see if you can get a more vertical presentation, when casting from shore.
Tackle is like Sheep and Aircraft. Nons on either. There is an s on maths as it more than one number. Hope you got that once and not ten tines
What bait was the 1st one?
Nice work dear love wonder water futage but please also add you rod and retrieve action it would be helpful
great video !!!
Tie 2 drop shot hooks on put a live minnow on one if you are not fishing a Bass event . Lot more fun !
Amazing video-learning the different length on weight/hook leader will change my fishing-My questions are what you do in grass like Guntersville (my home lake) -I change the length depending on how thick and tall the grass is. What Spinning Reel do you recommend.
You have an incredible old for fishing and YouTube
How close the bait was to the bottom had nothing to do with the weight of the drop shot. Your lighter weight wasn't rolling backwards down the pool. Which pulled the bait lower. So this video should be deleted this is horrible information. BTW if you casted from the other side of the pool pulling the weight down to the deeper water the weights would have allowed the bait to set higher off the bottom. 183k views and noone noticed this. Lol
Show exactly how low the bait is suspended below the braid on braid to Fluor.

Very informative video and very well explained! Thanks for sharing!
Did you ever power shot
you may want to take in consideration boat movement
U rigged the wacky rig worm wrong
Excellent views of multiple techniques. What a great perspective. Thank you!
This is a very revealing, particularly from a fishing-from-shore perspective, where you[re reeling in from deep to shallow. But I imagine it would be a different perspective (even with the Keitech), fishing from shallow to deep, as it would be from a boat
I'm drop shot king. Great video. But lengths between hook and weight can vary up to 24"-48" as shown. In RI I never go less than 18". Current is important. If close to dam or heavy current, can even cast and leave in rod holder and use another rod. Also depends on muck. Bass look up. And I dedicate a rod for drop shot and braid is just waste of money. Even other rods expensive braid is usually used as backing?? Waste. If insist on leader use a mono backing or straight mono or floro. Don't try to keep up with sponsored videos, they don't buy your line.
Thanks for making that video I normally hook my drop shots 18 to 24 in off the bottom seeing how this works at one foot, and at 4 ft and at 6 in was a big help I will stick to the 18 to 24 in your video shows a great fall and wiggle and the swimbaits works better with the one quarter ounce weight for the technique I'm using this answer many questions thanks a lot
Amazing Video
I like the drop shot weights personally. Less snags on rocks. And if they do snag they pop right off easy.
The edit was to include this next sentence, as I missed it vid . This is a fantastic brilliant watch . I'm totally gobsmacked esp shotttin had be thoting Very good ,deserves a sub and like without being talked in it.
. But pleas man don't start thus begging for likes in every vid .
Good vid. Test the power shot please
