In today’s video, I’m out fishing the jetty near the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi. It’s a cool spot—right by the old aircraft carrier, with the rocks and structure pulling in fish from the channel and bay side. With the water starting cooled of in peak winter, things feel like they’re transitioning, and the bite can be decent if you hit it right.
I spent the day working jigs along the rocks, throwing some topwater around the edges when it was calm, and switching to dead bait rigs (like shrimp or cut mullet) when the fish weren’t as active. Managed a few hookups—mostly speckled trout, with a couple pinfish and flounder showing up too.
It’s always interesting fishing in a place like this with tourists walking by and the Lexington in the background. If you’re ever in Corpus Christi and want to fish without a boat, this jetty’s worth checking out—just watch your step on the rocks and time it with the tide.
Watch along as I share what I was using, a couple of the catches, and the small tweaks that helped when things slowed down.
If you’re into inshore fishing around Corpus Christi or just like seeing jetty action, hope you enjoy the video. Drop a comment if you’ve fished here—what’s worked for you? Like and subscribe if you want more Texas coastal trips.

Apologies for the bad audio y’all. Heavy winds + cedar allergies made a nasty combo. Tried my best to fix it!
Great view of the bridge and Lex. I fish for bass in San Antonio, gotta switch to saltwater. Excellent video.
The water drops down to about 9ft right by the ship. In cold weather the sun warms the ship and the trout hold deep right next to it.
Just purchased a kayak to fish Corpus to Port A. by end of Feb. I subscribed and vote for more inshore fishing. Best of luck
First fish is Pinfish. You’re correct. When was this filmed?
Awesome vid. Were you using live shrimp or frozen shrimp?
