Catching Big Bass on Poppers – Cheap Fishing Lures VS. Name Brand

Catching big bass on cheap fishing lures is just as fun as the name brand. This episode is a cheap lure vs. name brand lure comparison. The first lure I use is the cheap Blaze topwater popper for $1.50. I manage to catch a big bass just as the sun is going down. I also get a few outgoing panfish to hit the popper too. The next day I try the Strike King popper that retails for $7.99. While I didn’t get any panfish to go for it, I did end up catching another big bass. I think both of these poppers performed very well. Don’t forget the pliers like I did or you will be running to the car. If I am catching big bass on poppers, even cheap ones, you can too.

  1. I’m new to fishing at 23 years old and absolutely love it. But I’m so grateful to find your videos. You’re not some professional fisherman on an expensive boat pitching expensive baits and lures at us because those brands sponsor you. I’m fishing from the banks, buying cheaper Walmart lures and have a lot of days of catching nothing. So I’m just glad to see that fishing can still be fully enjoyed by anyone, even without spending tons of money.

  2. Ditch the needle nose. Get a set of curved hemostats. Grind off the lock to give you better control. When you get a deeply hooked fish, go In through the gills with the hemostat and it will be a lot easier to get those hooks out. I always keep a set in my breast pocket when fishing.

  3. Maybe a Small belt pouch with pliers and line nipper?
I wear a vest and neck tool lanyard, something I picked up from fly fishing.
    I never leave without them.
These may not be your style, but something along those lines might do?…..
