Bass Followed My Bait… But Wouldn’t Bite (Here’s Why)

In this video, I break down what I changed when fish were clearly interested but refused to bite — and how small adjustments in bait size and retrieve speed made an immediate difference.

I started experimenting with swimbait size using the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper and Little Dipper, and the results were eye-opening once the fish finally started committing.

This is a real, on-the-water problem every angler runs into, and I walk through my thought process step-by-step as I adapt instead of guessing.

🎣 What you’ll see in this video:

Bass following but not committing
Why downsizing a swimbait can trigger bites
How retrieve speed changes fish behavior
Real-time adjustments and results on the water

Baits Used:

Reaction Innovations Little Dipper

No shortcuts. No hype. Just honest decision-making when the bite gets frustrating.

If you’ve ever watched fish track your bait but refuse to eat, this one’s for you.

  1. Another great video. The weather leaks pretty good before the crap storm coming… be safe! Wife and i are in wv at a cabin… waiting for the 12 inches of snow lol.

Your adjustment while fishing definitely make a difference when trying to catch fish. What is the major difference between the rods? Is it just the line? The weight capability of the rod?
