  1. So i just bought a new kickin their bass x lews spinning combo and im not sure what pound braid to put on im probably going to use all types of bait for bass like finesse baits ,moving baits, and topwater. I was thinking of getting 30lb braid but im not sure

  2. I know this video is a bit old. Started seriously fishing every day 2 months ago. I live on Lewisville Lake in North Texas, so, it was an easy hobby to pickup. Snatched up a good 7ft medium-heavy rod and a Daiwa Fuego 3000 LT.

Your videos have helped me out a lot. But I have a question here. I've been running 16Lbs braid to 14Lbs mono. It was just what the guy at the store recommended and I just didn't know enough about line to make a choice on my own.

So, sounds like I'm swapping to 20Lbs braid after seeing this, and switching my leaders to Flouro. My question is, what weight (or range of weight) Flouro do you typically run for leaders?

I'm fishing mostly soft plastics with 3/16th OZ. weights on a simple Texas rig.

  3. Please answer this you said 40+ lb braid now my heavy 7”4 black omen by 13 fishing is only rated to 25 lb it says like most heavy rods are do you go over that or is there another rod I’m missing here because all the pros are saying heavy rod 40+ lb braid so my question is is overloading the rating for the rod normal and okay ???

  4. Hey man great video, really cleared up a lot of questions for me. I was wondering why you would use a 20 pound test on a spinning reel. From as far as I know (which isn't a lot) I was told spinning reels should only hold up to 12 pounds max. Is this false? I'd love to get a reaction. :))

  5. I know this is an older video but the question relates to this topic. I have two rods that I need to get restrung. One bait caster and one spinning, both with old warn out mono on them right now. I've narrowed down that I would like to put mono on one and braid on the other but aren't sure which should go on which rod. Currently I'm getting a lot of backlash on the bait caster so I'm leaning towards braid on that one. Do you have any advice for me?

  6. i use zebco omniflex from walmart when i fish…not because i'm on a budget but because i'm cheap…it's always worked for me…i give it the old pull test and if it breaks i replace it if not i fish with it…tried braid and hated it….

  7. Will someone please explain to me the difference in depths and size of line. Higher pound test goes deeper or not? I’ve heard different things from different people. And why? Is it because of water pressure? I’ve heard stronger line is bigger and doesn’t go as deep because of pressure I guess pushing It up. I’ve also had people tell me bigger stronger line is heavier and goes deeper due to weight. Can someone please set me the heck straight? Thanks in advance.

  8. I only have spinning reels haven't yet got the handle on baitcasters. I have two spinner one if 6 9 MH and the other is 6 6 M am looking to add another 6 6 MH. What lines set would you recommend for texas rig spinner and chatter bait

  9. Good video as always, you forgot to mention braid's ability not to have line memory. I put most of braid on a scale and have found break strength at 175% of stated strength (i.E. 10lb = 17lb). I have braid that is still good after 5 years. I do always run floro leader with the braid

  10. Gene, love your videos and have learned so much. I'm sitting here Saturday morning with my 4 year old daughter in my lap watching with me and a few minutes in goes, "Dad, he's not catching anything…" Kids crack me up. Thanks for all your knowledge and help!

  11. This is first time I'm going to disagree with you. I would never encourage anyone to use mono especially for beginners. You simply cannot feel the fish bite or learn how it feels when they do.

  12. Been using Stren Forever but been looking at the braid maybe next year when I get to some of the bigger deeper lakes I want to fish just still trying not to get backlash on the baitcasters now and I just got my first Shirt of the Month of course its a Flukemaster one cool
