Today I am doing some bank fishing when it’s freezing cold. But do fish still bite when it’s cold? I start out fishing with a Rapala Floater on my ultralight. After trying a couple of spots without a bite, I give up and switch to a Gulp Minnow. I try to fish a float rig, but there isn’t enough room on the bank to get a decent cast with the new rod. After removing the float and fishing with just the jig, I catch my first and only fish of the day. No bass today. A 15 inch skipjack saved me from the walk of shame. Do fish bite when its freezing cold? Yes, but not many. #realistic #fishing

Ultralight rods that are that flexible take some practice and experimenting with the casting method for sure
A 15 incher will put a smile on a face after grinding for a while. There doesn't seem to be any industry standard regarding rod power. Floppiness, or the lack thereof, is different in ultralights depending on brand. It's annoying. The louder, the better with those reels – if only because so many people get riled about it.

Passed by one of my spots today during lunch, saw some bluegill schooling up, might actually be able to catch some if I can make an hour or two this weekend to get out there before the rain

"ra-pala" sounds more high falutin so I say it that way. Some of the best I do each year is in the winter here in Idaho. Some of it is weather, but I think it is mostly due to the lower stress on the fishing holes.
