MY PROFILE:

I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn’t have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors.  I  have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey…it should be an honest and fun ride!

  1. My thoughts , i am recreational angler , love fishing. I own 999.00 eagle eye 17 ft nitro , terrova with spot lock , all new last year to me , prior tin boat boat 2d sonar , basic trolling motor. I’m in my 60s . Ffs is awesome , I feel spot lock is even a bigger game changer for me . I’m catching fish in the middle of nowhere, I never thought were there , and they are 3 lbs up on average . So my take is I still beat bank based one time of year , conditions , I can option , and locate fish 20+ feet of water , I’m so astounded by the difference in fish size from 3 feet of water when fishing deeper waters . Ffs has taught me this as a tool . As far as a the new changes coming, I still believe these young kids will still dominate. Ffs has helped them get to the top faster . These young men are still hammers , fishermen . I do believe there will be more opportunities for higher placement in results to some of the older guys , but I bet they have no problem having ffs on there boats. Fishing is such a mental sport , it’s also a knack sport . Some people fish better than others based on technique need that day , what the fish are doing. So I think what will be interesting is who adjusts best to the tools allowed to fish that day . I watch Kyoya fish old school on sabine . This is my argument. The great anglers will adjust . We will see .

  2. You maybe right Todd, and often you are. But if i may, the fine line(if its fine line) is my understanding, is not pitting one group against another. Its that pros, should be fishing using their head not technology. Its almost to prove your a pro. In other words you made it to big time, because your puzzle solving not beaming around and just picking a bait you can see them like.

  3. It's hard to believe that an organization of that caliber has to rely on flipping a coin to determine what's going to happen seems like to me that they have the events backwards as far as the forward facing sonar in my opinion you river systems should be no forward facing sonar Big lakes and reservoirs should be forward-facing for sonar

  4. I’m happy for both of us Todd haha! I can’t wait to see it. If I am wrong I’ll be the first to admit it. This is a good thing for the sport. When Christie comes in with 4 on Saturday and a scoper who couldn’t scope has five big ones then what? It is interesting how they flipped the way they pitched it complete 180 but I get it. They needed to sell the idea. I laughed when I heard the intro.

  5. The young guys wont quit, but I do think it will slow the influx of young anglers coming to the sport. We have seen the huge influx of young anglers due to FFS, and I just think that influx slows. Maybe not a bad thing, but for the sport we need those young guys to carry the baton at some point.

  6. Recreational anglers outnumber pros a 1000:1.
FFS will decimate fish populations if the li.its aren't changed.
I live on a lake and have seen it firsthand.
I watch guys go out daily and limit out on crappie and bass.
The limits weren't set on these lakes so that everyone can get a limit daily.
They will have to be changed.

  7. TODD, just met a man today named randy hicks and he spoke very highly of you. Told me a story about when you took him fishing one day amd he caught 2 fish 7lbers back to back. Cool guy thought id share that with you!🎉 me and him may be going to lake kurth soon and see what we can get into

  8. I’m totally anti FFS not only do I think it should be banned from tournaments, but completely outlawed by federal regulations, simply because I don’t think you should ever be able to have real time live feedback where you can cast to a fish and see its reaction and movements, I think it’s a good thing when people can’t just go out and catch a bunch of fish our fisheries are already way over pressured these fish need an escape, it’s just totally unnecessary imo, these days everyone wants everything easy, it brings zero positive impacts to the fisheries or the sport in general so there is no need for it.

  9. I love having FFS on my cheap boat fishing against guys with 100k boats lol. I fish derbies that allow it and some that don't. I fun fish with it cause it just makes sense to use a fish finder that actually finds fish 😂

  10. I love the happiness in your expressions today.

It's put up or shut up time.
    Yay!

This could go a few ways after next year. They could end up splitting the divisions into ffs and no ffs (possibly). They could decide to remove it (possibly). They could go back to using it all the time (possibly).

You are right. A lot of money is going around. I have a Garmin live scope too but I don't think the elites should have it in tournaments.

The manufacturers could see a boom in sales of this proves what we all think, that livescope dominates.

  11. I know a bunch of college bass fisherman who hate scoping and they are tired of having to use it to compete. They just want to go fishing they they used to. You may see kids quit of it was banned but there are a bunch that are tired of it. Most of the ones i know are hammers with or without it.

  12. From duck boats to jon boats to 90's model bass boats to newer bass boats, rarely do I see one without live imaging on it. It's amazing to use. As for tournament orgs, do what y'all want, I'm still going fishing and will tune in here and there. That said, MLF was a good watch this year.
