How do you fish the hula grub?
Hula grub on a Gamakatsu Alien head is money! Weedless
You mentioned in bait #3 that it's also called a hover rig, but the hover rig is something completely different than a damiki rig or like a nedmiki etc.
So many baits so little time
Thanx Tyler, Still have the hula grubs and they do still work. Put them on a 3/16oz football jighead or Texas rig and throw it in the thick stuff.
Spybait check, I bought one, but that's about it. I'll get around to it thanks for the push.
How deep is the normal "bottom " depth when you are fishing bottom. What do you do with water depths of 200'?
What’s your seminar going to be? I hadn’t seen you on the schedule. Were you a late addition?
I can never get the bait links to work on your videos.
I have used them all and they are great baits.
Years ago I got a hula grub style bait called the Man O War by Mann's I believe. I tried it here and there, but never caught anything on it up north. I actually still have the bait, and now want to bust it out and try down here in the south.
Caught my pb an 8lber on a arkie salty crawlin grub. Have a ton of them. And have caught boat loads of bass. I use it on a home made 1/4 oz weedless round ball head.
Keep forgetting about the hula grub , I'm going to go pull out my bag and throw it on the boat , I use a 1/4 oz owner blockhead offset so that its weedless , a killer here in Tennessee from about now til the end of spring
Hint hint. Put it on a chatterbait and don’t forget the drop of super glue above the hula grub skirt!!👍
Tyler, other videos mention using spybaits with very light 4 lbs. fluoro. Even 6 lbs., some say, is stretching it too far. What do you use? On the tiny minnow baits, one of my favorite versions is a 60 degree bent jig hook with a medium sized Owner centering pin to screw a minnow plastic onto. Lots of area for the bass to bite down to set a good hook. I have the spybait you mention, will give it a go!
Tyler, I jig fish quite a bit but have never used the Hula Grub on a jig. If I was fishing it in the Winter, would the presentation be a little big for that slow time of year? Or, does Yamamoto make a smaller version? Thanks
I absolutely LOVE the spybaits. I've caught hundreds of peacock bass on all the versions DUO has. And a few more on other brands. They're an absolute fun to fish on BFS, where I usually use the 60, 80 Shallow and the 62 Alpha. For the size 80 and above, I like to put a blade treble on the back for that extra flash.
We in our 50s & 60s also remember catching lots of fish on a curly-tailed grub. The tail holds the bait up in the water column just long enough. l still use them in tough conditions along with hair jigs.
Great reminder, Tyler! I keep forgetting to pull out my hula grubs, but those are money! Also have not tried the spy bait and the pond, yet, but need to give that a shot too.
Love the content. A suggestion, do a boat organization/tackle organization video.
The jig head is good for FFS, but I use a plain jig hook 1/0, the minnow you showed, and push a 1/16 or 1/8 neko weight in the front of the minnow. It gives it a balanced presentation and you can actually slow it down on tight line and it will stay in one location above them. I enjoy your new format of the content of just talking. Keep up the great work!
I like the single tail Hula Grub
Love the hula grub.
The hula grub puts in work
Nooooooo
Great tips
Bruh !!!!!!! Why
